  1. Anyone knows whats going on with GRVY? I could not find any information on the company's website or on the internet. The stock has gained almost 100% in 4 days. Seems more like momo traders bidding up the price, although I am not complaining.
  2. Found this article interesting and relevant White riot - How racism and immigration gave us Trump, Brexit, and a whole new kind of politics
  3. Are you describing Trump or Clinton? I am confused, because I have heard the exact same things said about Trump, except that he was the one doing the cheating.
  4. Hi Race, I finally finished reading your essay and must compliment you on a very well written essay. I have been holding way too much cash for the last couple of years and maybe it's time for me to change my strategy. I am interested in your calculations too and was wondering if you can PM it to me as well. Thanks in advance.
  5. There is a separate Eurobank thread. Dont know if these two can be merged. http://www.cornerofberkshireandfairfax.ca/forum/investment-ideas/eurobank-egfey/
  6. I had owned this company from 2008 to 2012 and sold ( probably should have held on to it). I agree about its niche and that management is pretty solid, but at the current price though, I actually think it is fairly valued to slightly overvalued. What do you expect the future growth to be? I put it between 12-15%.
  7. If we go by for-profit companies that have a very good chance of thriving under reduced funding scenario..I would think Strayer and Apollo would be my choices, although some would disagree with me here.
  8. Not going to happen. There's too much of lobbying money, too big a political price to pay , not to mention too many employees ( around 50K) and too many students ( more than 2 million) that would be affected for govt to do anything as serious as cutting off ALL funding. Reduced govt funding - Yes. Zero govt funding - not a chance. In a reduced govt funding scenario, I think the best of the for-profits are going to survive ( irrespective of how education landscape changes).
  9. I have yet to see the study. AFAIK he is still working on it and the study wasn't complete. Can you please post the study if you have it? It would be difficult to conclude about ideal cash amounts without looking at the assumptions, sample size or methodology behind the study.
  10. I do not think it is allowed but you could verify it with them.
  11. Have you tried it? How was your experience? Last time I looked at it there was a long wait list. Is it still the case?
  12. No it is not. It is a US based start-up and was started by seasoned entrepreneurs and have received VC funding from JP morgan chase and Goldman sachs, in addition to other VCs. I have used motif investing for the past 1.5 years to invest in a basket of for-profit education companies. I have also rebalanced my portfolio. It works exactly like they claim. I think it is a novel idea although what I don't like is that you have to buy at market quotes. Also as far as I am aware you cannot create a long/short portfolio or buy a basket of options. They also have limits on liquidity/Mkt cap stocks in your portfolio must have. I have not explored everything on that site but I think its a nice platform and will probably improve over time. Although I am not sure if it is the best broker for monthly investing.
  13. Here is something I shared a while back and have used for a while. I also track using XIRR method mentioned above. They pretty much line up..but I have continued to use both. http://www.cornerofberkshireandfairfax.ca/forum/general-discussion/2012-returns/msg97835/#msg97835
  14. Have to tried wearing insoles in your shoes? I also got plantar fasciitis playing soccer. I had to quit because the pain got pretty bad and I had to limp everywhere for the next two days. I visited a podiatrist who specialized in sports medicine. He recommended I use insoles from Superfeet - but asked me to use only the blue and green ones ( I don't know why). I bought 2 pairs of each from the nearby sports chalet and wore it for the next 6 months and recovered fully. A couple of years back when I was preparing for a half-marathon, I got some custom insoles from Roadrunner because I was afraid that my Plantar fasciitis would be back. It worked really well and I did not have any issues. Maybe you can take a look at it if you are still running regularly.
