  1. Like I said it’s not mutually exclusive, you can be both a visionary (done great things) and at the same time commit fraud and be a con artist Con-artists that become among the richest men on the planet are far rarer than geniuses.
  2. I don’t agree self driving AI is a fraud (we will have self driving ai, one day) I do believe fsd is almost level 5 is a scam I don’t think people doubt we will have self driving cars ... eventually ... sure musk believe av will be with us one day, so does many other folks, this is not some revelation that no one else has thought of This reminds me of theranos https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarke%27s_three_laws The SEC and customers see magic. I can see through Musk's bullshit and I know the self-driving AI is a fraud, but I also know that he might be right in the end. Reflexivity...
  3. its pretty easy, when the official statement is your tech is a level 2 and yet you are out there promoting its almost a level 5 for years, i think it is pretty obvious what you are doing. i can understand if your tech is level 4 and you are almost there ... so close, I get that. But level 2?! sayings its almost level 5 (you haven't even done/achieve level 3,4 yet) now either the person is 1) delusional/crazy 2) liar 3) stuplid? 4) visionary just over promises :) you know a person can be "both" a visionary and a "con artist" its not mutually exclusive (call it what it is) if #4 is your pick, then I have a super AI jarvis I like to sell you, it can almost do what a person can do
  4. i don't think con artist is quite the other end of the spectrum from god/genius con artist are everywhere pretty common, god/genius on the other hand are quite rare h Exactly. The video above ends with (paraphrased) "Musk isn't' a genius or scientist, he's a con-man" He does overpromise a lot, especially on timelines, but he isn't a con-artist. It's like you have to think he's a god-genius or an evil villain scam artist, there is no in-between.
  5. haha if its at 6x forward multiple like MIK then count me in.
  6. k2so, i agree mik currently is not a etsy competitor, but they could be, given their customer base, given the current environment i am curious how the market would react if mik announce they are allowing their makers to sell their product on mik's platform? etsy is trading at 25bil. i just found this whole thing shady, take private announce right before earning, they obviously know they will beat expectation, and no conference call. we would never know how the market would of reacted to the earnings beat.
  7. anyone bum about the MIK deal? taking private right before earnings, initially earning call was cancel (suspicious) now its back on? trading at 7ish forward PE, sure covid helped, but their business is doing well. Etsy is value 5x MIK, if MIK provide an alternative to etsy (which makes perfect sense), given current environment I don't see why this thing can't be worth more than $22. anyone follow and own this?
  8. haha, yes i know what rule of law means :) at the end of the day politicians have an agenda (in a multi party system or not). even in a so call one party system there are different factions, ideas, interests, groups etc. i think people forget even in a screw you, you cross the line I am going to put you in your place world, logic still comes into play. For China/Xi or whoever to simply take down BABA for that reason is not only illogical its stupid. you know its not impossible that maybe just maybe BABA did cross the line :) its definitely one possible aspect of this, I am not naive to think if this happen this is the only reason. The senarior that I am most afraid of from an investors perspective is what bennycx mention, limiting BABA's profitability (in one business or many) as to not cripple BABA but make BABA or potentialy any China business into low return investments.
  9. haha, agree :) I also bought a token position of BABA on thurs. This statement itself sounds harmless, but could lead to many many catastrophic things. Such as the Uyghur genocide where individual rights are oppressed in the favor of the One China policy. And many other horrible things that happened in our past... I agree with your general thought... let's not turn this thread into a political one and get the topic back to about BABA.
  10. Individual rights is important and valued. But I hope people understand there are positive and negatives to everything, even when it comes to individual rights. When it is taken to the extreme it could have devastating negative effect. The same can be said for the other extreme. The response to Covid is an example of what can go wrong when everything is about the “me” What it comes down to it, is balance. Like everything in life, grey areas. How much individual rights is too much , how much is not enough. This statement itself sounds harmless, but could lead to many many catastrophic things. Such as the Uyghur genocide where individual rights are oppressed in the favor of the One China policy. And many other horrible things that happened in our past...
  11. Haha, I find comments like this naive, this is not rocky 5 or whatever, China is not some monolithic evil empire that their goal is to destroy and take over everything. Like everything else in life, the real world is very much different with lots of grey areas. 1. No rule of law - really, do they let people just run around and do whatever they want? 2. No respect for individual human rights - individual human rights is not the only thing that is important, Not everything is always about the individual. 3. No freedom of press - a bit extreme. Life is not all black and white and the so call western system is not some ultimate goal that every society tries to achieve. :) What does CPC want: 1.) no rule of law 2.) no respect for individual human rights 3.) no freedom of press China is a military dictatorship, plain and simple. Its core values are polar opposite to Western democracies/Japan/South Korea. China needed to develop quickly and relaxed a few constraints for a few decades. Stage 1 in their growth was building economic and political power. We are just starting to see stage 2: the pivot with China starting to exercise that power. Wait until their economy is twice the size it is now - is the world ready for China (and its value system) being the dominant economic and political power?
  12. Me too, but that is nothing interesting considering it’s a small position and I have a basket of this The interesting part is, is there anyone willing to do a “large” position :)
  13. This is pretty impressive, cruise av in San fran
  14. this market is getting out of hand, the market cap of TSLA ~= BAC + C + WFC +GM ?!?! the combine net income of these companies is more than DOUBLE tsla's sales
