  1. Assuming an account that is restricted to SP500 index, some bond index and cash. When would you move cash/bonds to SP500? Question is intentionally restricted. 8)
  2. Agreed. Bunch of wussies. Give me 20% down *&@&ers!
  3. Gates also funded the program that discovered the outbreak in Washington. Bill Gates has a very good chance at looking like a saint or hero when this is all over. He has been looking as a hero to me for a while now. Disclosure: I donate to Gates Philanthropy Partners sometimes.
  4. https://emcrit.org/ibcc/covid19/ - medical info collection on Covid19
  5. I gave up on TRIP/LTRIPA some time ago too. Good luck to you.
  6. Will the real Mike Burry please stand up? ;D
  7. Cure for common cold (and flu... and covid): 1. Barricade in a room. 2. Order everything you need from Amazon. 3. .... 4. Profit!
  8. I gave up on Maffei providing good leadership or great capital allocation some time ago. YMMV. Good luck.
  9. If you have elderly relatives suffering from Alzheimer's, dementia, or other debilitating diseases... give them a gift... send them on a cruise. :-X
  10. Can't access the article - paywall. I wonder how much this might be an issue for other houses/locations built around the same time - or earlier - or later. My house (main part) was built in 1914. It's not in Boston proper, so maybe (hopefully) the issue is not there.
  11. Fake! IRL he was yelling "HODL!"
  12. I think this is already in US although possibly not to the same extent. Look at SAVE special deals. I am talking last couple years pre-coronavirus. You can get $49 one way BOS-Chicago IIRC. Possibly even cheaper. I don't follow it much, but look at https://www.spirit.com/ and you'll see tons of <$100 RT deals (some of which might be covid caused, but some were there pre covid). Yeah, it's with all similar restrictions/fees/crap as Ryanair. And possibly worse days than Ryanair - maybe not weekend round-trip. But it's there. SAVE also have similar deals to south including some to Caribean and LatAm. LatAm might not be $100 RT since it's longer. And maybe it's less prevalent for coast-to-coast routes since these are longer. But I think if you time it very right, JBLU might have some cheap coast-to-coast too. I also mostly hate flying nowadays especially with all the crap budget most airlines throw at you, so I don't track these sales much. But AFAIK they are there. And I mostly love JBLU. Though it's not a really crap budget airline. 8)
  13. Forget SPCE! VTIQ/NKLA iz da new shizz homies! 8)
  14. Yeah I think is a long con in terms of the quarantine. WA, Seattle and King County officials know where this is going but they are trying to ease into it to reduce disruption. If people fight on Black Friday for 60" TVs at Walmart, imagine what happens over the last box of TP at Costco if everyone is freaked the eff out because they have been told they should not be out. It could be total chaos. At least right now the TP buyers are just the bandwagon preppers. Officials are concerned about mass hysteria IMO. For context, I am about 16 miles from the long term care center in Kirkland where the first deaths originated. Lots of people are confused and frustrated because they are getting conflicting information. For example teachers are frustrated because people are being told to work from home and avoid mass gatherings but they need to keep going to school which is arguably the worst place in terms of spreading (although you could argue having all those kids running around is worse). A local Toyota dealership had an employee suspected (later confirmed) and tried to hide it, not telling anyone. There are reports on social media of many people falling ill but the confirmed numbers seem really low. Downtown Seattle is a ghost town, the small business owners I know are freaked out they are going to lose their shirts which looks very possible right now. Good times :D Sorry to hear. Hope things work out fine for you and your family.
  15. Yeah, Covid 19 jumped the 1-ft hurdle and infected 90K+ people. Oh, wait. That's not the invertebrates you meant. ::)
  16. I'm sorry, you work in healthcare? As in caring of people who are ill, with the goal of them getting better? There are goals and there are realities. The reality is if your old and/or immuno compromised your more likely to die if you get the corona virus. Without a cure what exactly would you like a healthcare worker to do in that situation? The right thing obviously is to have total contempt to the patients that you exhibit here.
  17. That is likely one of the reasons of not testing more widely in US too.
  18. I heard they extend it for 2 weeks for free.
  19. Yeah, my guy is still quoting 30y fixed above 3.0 (maybe 3.25), which is too high for me. Gonna wait. Please post if you see 30y below 3.0.
  20. This is probably wrong thread for this, but anyways... I ran the BrooklynInvestor DCF on SP500 and the issue is not Covid, the issue is valuation. Starting with 133.53 SP500 earnings ( from here https://www.multpl.com/s-p-500-earnings/table/by-year , I did not double check ), 0% growth this year, 3% growth rate from here to year 10, 5% discount rate, terminal PE 15, SP500 value would be ~2700. Using 5% growth rate, SP500 value would be 3179. Now, this assumes 5% discount rate, which is basically expected return. If investor wanted more than 5% return, the numbers are way worse. (No, I don't think 25x terminal PE or 4% discount rate make sense. I don't think growth rates above 5% make sense either. Yes, I know that risk free rates are close to zero. I'm not gonna use risk free rates for DCF. But, yeah, that's likely why SP500 is where it is.) ::) TL;DR: If you assume a 25x multiple at exit and unchanged long-term earnings potential then nothing matters. I should just remove my post and leave your TL;DR. 8)
