  1. Gorat’s restaurant is nice but packed over that weekend. Definitely make reservations. They try to handle the crowds but often reservations run way behind. Avoid Gorat’s on Sunday night when they have a special menu for shareholders (higher prices!). There are other equally nice steakhouses; unfortunately Piccolo Pete's is no more. The Borsheim event has food but the lines are crazy. If you go, go early but don't arrive hungry. Whitney Tilson usually has a cocktail party at the nearby Marriott following the Borshiem event. Get on his invitation list. Rosenblatt Stadium and Creighton University might be worth a look if you’re into that sort of thing. There's often an event after the annual meeting at Neb. Furniture Mart. But again, the crowds. I second the suggestion of shopping at the BRK vendors on Friday. Items really sell out. Bring home some Fruit of the Loom t-shirts for the kids.
  2. Wilson, see my comments earlier in this thread from December 19 for ideas. Also I believe I read that the exhibit hall was going to be open on Friday. Might be a good way to see everything, beat the crowds and pick up some of the give aways.

  4. You'll get the annual report and in it a postcard to request the credentials for admission. If for some reason you don't get the annual report, in the past you could bring your brokerage statement to the conference center on Friday and they'll give you credentials. If you ask nicely, someone on this board may order a few extra credentials and send them to you.
  5. I recall that event parking at CenturyLink Center was less than $20 for the day. Traffic is OK in general. It's just another Saturday for the rest of Omaha.
  6. Flights into Omaha are booked solid on Friday. If for some reason you miss your flight or the flight gets canceled there are no other flights you can get a seat on. I would opt for arrival on Thursday.
  7. Gorat’s restaurant is nice but packed over that weekend. They try to handle the crowds but often reservations run way behind. Avoid Gorat’s on Sunday night when they have a special menu for shareholders (higher prices!). Piccolo Pete's restaurant is just as nice, easier to get a reservation and the atmosphere a little nicer. I’ve wanted to try The Drover for lunch but haven’t gotten there yet. Their lunch menu looks reasonable. The dinner menu is pricey. The Borsheim event has food but the lines are crazy. Whitney Tilson has a cocktail party at the nearby Marriott following the Borshiem event. Get on his invitation list. Rosenblatt Stadium and Creighton University might be worth a look if you’re into that sort of thing. I generally stay in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The rooms are quite a bit cheaper.

  11. The problem is that unless you can get to $25M in assets, no one will carry daily quotes for you. And without daily quotes you can't get investors.
  12. FYI Tonight on Charlie Rose: April 12, 2010 Tonight James Chanos, President, Kynikos Associates. He is the man who predicted the Enron downfall and now predicting a housing bubble in China. And then Stephen Green, Group Chairman of HSBC. His book is called, “Good Value: Reflections on Money, Morality, and an Uncertain World.”

  14. I believe DHL was trying to cut a deal with UPS, not FedEx. No one who followed what was happening with DHL/UPS had any hope that a deal would be struck. http://www.abxair.com/atsg/pr2008-06-26.html When they were 'working together' (I use the term loosely) DHL gave ATSG incentives, then when ATSG exceeded the goals DHL would try to screw them over with technicalities. In the end, ATSG extracted a lot of money from DHL. I say good riddance to DHL. It seems to me that this is an accounting issue. Joe Hete is a great manager and will pull ATSG through but he's not been one to give out information unnecessarily.
