  1. Yeah, I'm sure it's robinhood retail traders who are the main moving force for the price of this $420bn market cap company. Apple too, I'm sure. Yes agree of course it isn’t just Robinhood folks moving this with their own tiny capital - but think we can both agree with the level of algorithmic trading, Trend following and momentum strategies out there.....that a wave of retail mania is amplified by institutional money such that it can feed on itself and get a Tesla situation Of course it's a hot stock, but the narrative about Elon Musk taking advantage of Robinhood traders is just pointless bitterness. Sometimes things you don't like will go up, sometimes things you like will go down. No need to find villains and blame day traders/algos/momo/market makers/the fed/etc. It all sounds too much like #BagholderQuotes

  3. Yeah, amazing stuff. Last night wife and I watched episode 1 of this NHK documentary. Followed Miyazaki during the early days of the making of Ponyo. Really great to see his creative process, and to realize how much of it is coming straight out of his head and drawings: https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/ondemand/program/video/10yearshayaomiyazaki/?type=tvEpisode&

  5. It would still be valuable, but A LOT less. A LOT. TikTok basically is its algo. It's not based nearly as much on a social graph or an interest graph as other social media companies. The algo does all the heavy lifting.
  6. It seems to me the most logical approach for an offender is to reduce the weight of ICE cars not necessarely going the electric route. Much faster to implement. BeerBaron But also a deadend longer term. They need to get serious about EVs, or they'll be left behind more than they already have been.

  8. Exactly what I was thinking. Raising capital now would INCREASE the value of the stock because it would derisk it and decrease uncertainty. It would be reflexivity 101. Musk should raise $25bn and increase the pace of all his projects. That didn’t take long. $5bn is a start I guess.

  11. Been going through the Miyazaki movies for the first time with my family. So far it's all been big hits, awesome stuff. In order: Ponyo (2008), My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Kiki's Delivery Service (1989) and The Cat Returns (2003?). Highly recommended, especially if you have young kids. 18. They probably think they can reduce labor costs with Go style automation, and it's not the margins that matter, it's the ROIC. If you can get lots of turns of inventory and huge revenues out of it, it can move the needle. It's a large enough market to matter to a company of Amazon's size.
  19. I wrote a little about TikTok here (too many twists to keep track of): https://libertyrpf.substack.com/p/18-my-thoughts-on-spotify-and-podcasting Basically so far we know that interested bidders include(d): Microsoft, Google, Walmart, Oracle, and Softbank.
