bmichaud
Not an idea, just starting a thread in order to post the recent Trian letter to PEP. Trian_Funds_PEP_Letter.pdf
cayale
Thanks for posting this. I think Trian is spot on. I also think Pepsi's effort to parry ain't gonna cut it.
bmichaud
Supposedly Trian reached out to Yacktman. Very nice!
CorpRaider
Yeah I caught the interview or part of it at lunch. Yachtman says they plan to meet with Peltz, but are thus far unpersuaded that a spin is required. Said a lot of the evidence regarding underperformance might mean they need to examine management structure and execution doesn't mean need to break up businesses (reading between the lines, CEO chair just got hotter). I swear it is funny to hear some of the hosts ask guys like yachtman, "So, you think we're about to break out here on the S&P?" Like just google the guy before hand and if he's a "long-term value investor" or the like, don't ask him about his view on an index over the next month. Ask him about businesses or industries or practically anything else. I saw the tease for WEB on Monday during this interview and it was the same "tweet Buffett your questions about the economy and his views on employment." At least they let Yachtman talk though. Nothing is better than bloomberg getting some A list guest and then cutting them off and talking over them, like we want to hear the hosts brilliant questions instead of the billionaire. Rant over. Where are my nitro tablets?
bmichaud
hahahah love the rant. The DEAD serious questions to Yacktman about if he would vote for Trian, and then later if he supports current management...as if Wapner is trying to uncover some market-moving information "HERE FIRST ON CNBC!!!"....embarrassing. CorpRaider
It sounded like Yachtman was very open to looking at supporting a management change when he was asked about PEP.
