jmp8822
Does anyone know how to buy options on an international stock exchange? More specifically, I am a U.S. resident/citizen and would like to buy options on a stock in Canada. The stock trades OTC on the U.S., with its regular listing in Canada and is not an ADR. I have an Interactive Brokers account currently. IB told me there might be some regulation against it, but another person at IB said it should be possible. Thoughts? Thanks! watsa_is_a_randian_hero
I've been told there is a US regulation against it. You have to create an organization domiciled outside the US in order to do it (so I've been told).
value-is-what-you-get
Even if it can be done you'll want to look at liquidity of the market for those options. If you intend to exercise, great. If you want to sell the options, good luck.
ukvalueinvestment
My impression is that retail buying of options is much more developed in US. You guys are always talking about LEAPS and other options strategies. Here in the UK, I know no one who uses options for their personal portfolios. I'm sure it's possible but wouldn't know where to start.
