Thanks for the Kindle book tip!

I'll read it after I finish WEB's Ground Rules and Bernard Cornwell's Agincourt (which is just as awesome the second time around.)

The next pairing will be the adventures of Musk peppered with a bit of Heinlein (grok it baby...)

Switch to Stella or Becks!!!  own BUD now  ;)

I used to support AmBev a bit when I worked in Brasil (Antarctica, Bohemia & Skol - depending on which was the coldest...)

I will immediately switch to Stella in honor of you (I drank it when working in Egypt around the end of the last millenium...)

Stranger drinking strange beer!

With so many great craft beers I never touch that other stuff anymore.

CAMRA!

According to Euromonitor, per capita beer consumption in Brazil was 68.6 litres last year which was well behind the 85.5 litres per year of Venezuela (who knew that having a crappy economy would lead to more partying?)

I don't know what the connection between beer & rockets is but it's there somewhere (I'm sure of it!)

It's the mandatory 3 day work week there, what else where you supposed to do.

Has anyone else watched the Mars series NatGeo put together? Musk and others get quite a bit of time in it to discuss their thoughts on Mars colonization. The first couple episodes were good, it got a bit too dramatic after that though.

SpaceX just landed a falcon 9 this morning after launching a spy sat. This time the landing was on the ground, which I saw live on my phone (what a time to be alive!).

Musk also recently did a TED talk where he talks about his Boring Company:

I wonder if Musk realizes that he might end up competing with himself. If the number of launches goes up exponentially (sic), the demand at current price points is unlikely to go exponential, so the price points would have to drop (significantly? exponentially?). In the end, a large number of launches may not bring as much money as expected (to finance Mars).

Edit: this https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/30/16384096/elon-musk-spacex-bfr-mars-rocket-development-business-demand raises similar and possibly more detailed questions.

Lower prices means more demand too. Lots of projects that wouldn't make sense with a 100m launch might make sense with a 10m launch, for example. And once you start building bases on the moon and creating staging areas for interplanetary travel for a lot of mass, the number of launches go up really quickly...

But I don't think he cares, he just wants to do his part to push the space sector forward. If it means not optimizing the economics perfectly, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you believed they put a man on the moon

Man on the moon

If you believe there's nothing up his sleeve

Then nothing is cool
