opihiman2
Hi folks, Does anyone on here do lots of backtesting? If so, what databases are you guys using? Currently, I'm using AAII Stock Pro, but I'm not very comfortable with some of the inherent biases built into it. I was looking at Compustat's PIT database, but I've also read it has errors in it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm in the process of trying to automate my trading/investing strategies. Take a lot of the emotion and time out of it. Someone on here once gave me a large ascii text export of their CompuStat end of price data. I used Java to test an idea I had for awhile. Man, that idea has been outperforming these past 5 years! Super novel idea, but surprised no one else has looked at it. The only thing is, it's very risky to bet on one strategy, and it's still not an automated strategy. My current idea is to create a plethora of strategies across numerous industries and lots of stocks. Thanks for any help.
crastogi
Have you looked at portfolio123.com. They draw their data from compustat (i think) and they also allow you to screen and create rule based portfolio's. It has really helped me with my investing. If you need more info - feel free to ask or message
