Hah, a lot of Bostonians. :) I live in suburbs. :)

 

I run a very small (2.5 persons right now) gathering discussing companies, books, value investing strategies, etc.

Our next meeting is February 15th, 1pm at my place.

We are discussing Fairfax this time... ;D  ;D

My friends are not insurance/financial company analysis experts, so we never got to talk about FFH... until now.

I'm not expecting to cover anything revolutionary, mostly the basics.

If interested to come, shoot me a private message and I'll give you details. :)

I'll see if we can do something else that fits more people and in more central location later this month or next month. Unfortunately, it's hard for me to get to Boston center on weeknights... I've done meetings at MIT, 5pm on Mondays in the past. Is this something that might work for people? What are date/time/location preferences overall?

February 15th meeting is cancelled due to the snowstorm. I'll be rescheduling it with my friends and will post the new date on the board too.

I am holding a small meeting to discuss Fairfax on Saturday, February 28th at 1pm at my place. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll send address.

 

Though the meeting is about Fairfax, it is not formal, so we'll have friendly banter about whatever else is interesting too. :)

 

I got only one or two private messages interested in a larger informal meeting at some Boston location. Looking at the calendar, the earliest I can do something on a weekend is March 14-15. Any interest in a lunch or dinner get together?

Based on poll results, we are looking into getting a room at Cambridge public library on March 14, Saturday to mingle and discuss IBM. I'm not a member, but a friend is looking into this. Otherwise, we'll try to see if we can get a room in another public place (MIT maybe?). I'll keep you guys posted.

Sorry, but Cambridge public library and IBM discussion is not going to happen. This is postponed to sometime in April or May.

 

Anyone wants to have a lunch and mingle on March 14th (or 15th) instead? Please propose location(s), since I don't drive into Boston/Cambridge often, so I don't know good places.

 

I'm closer to Burlington/Woburn/Stoneham/Melrose/Winchester if people prefer to meet in suburbs - I doubt it, but throwing it out as possibility. :)

March 14th no longer works for me.

Since I did not get any replies, I am going to cancel plans in March.

 

I'll post here if/when our group plans a meeting in April.

 

If any of you want to get together for a lunch or something, feel free to drop me a line.

Sorry guys, but I pretty much can't do anything during workdays, so lunch/dinner/meeting would have to be on a weekend.

 

I'm fine if someone else organizes something during the workdays; it's very unlikely that I'll be able to attend though.

 

I am still looking for weekend lunch spot (or dinner spot) ideas in Boston/Cambridge.

 

Our stock discussion group is still on a "break", so stock discussion meeting is not planned until later in April or perhaps May.

Sorry to resurrect this, but I'm wondering if this or maybe another regular meetup is still taking place in the Boston area? I'll be moving there in a few short weeks and it would be great to discuss ideas and learn from other folks!

We have a meeting scheduled for lunch on Saturday July 31st in Manchester, NH.  PM me for details.  Depending on just how far people are and the interest, it might make sense to have a "border" meeting.  Meaning, something in Salem, NH or Methuen / Haverhill, MA.  That way some of the NH folks can come down and the Boston folks can come up. 

 

I've organized meetings in Burlington, Wilmington, Hampton, NH, and in Manchester, NH.  If there's interest and good conversation I'll go anywhere, and I'd be happy to organize.  We might even do a rotating circuit - one month in NH, the other in MA.
