2015 YellowBRKers Meet and Greet at the Berkshire Annual Meeting

AJB96

Recommended Posts

The Yellow BRKers will be held Friday, May 1st, 2015 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Omaha, starting at 4:00 pm and you can linger until 7:00 pm. There will be a short program at approximately 5:30.

This is a casual atmosphere. It's a "happy hour" type of gathering - not a formal dinner or anything of that sort.

The DoubleTree is located on 16th and Dodge. There may be some street parking, otherwise, one can use the parking garage with an entrance from the South at 16th & Dodge street, just east of the First National Bank.

Please register here: www.yellowbrkers.com

There were many board members there last year and I look forward to seeing you all again.

I set up a reservation at Sullivan's steakhouse for 14 people (we can add to the # if there is significant demand). I talked to Packer and he mentioned that we already have 11 folks (including myself and Packer) so if you have talked to him before about dinner then you should be good. However, I don't have an exact list so if you are interested in joining please pm me or reply to this thread. I'd appreciate it if you could also let me know whether you have already spoken to Packer or not.

The reservation is for Friday, May 1st, 2015 at 6:30 pm.

Look forward to meeting everyone.

I am waiting to hear back from 801Chophouse (which is slightly less expensive) so the location may change. The restaurants are within a block of each other so I'm just trying to find a slightly less expensive steak :)

Thanks,

Schwab

I just finalized the Chophouse reservation (both reservations are for May 1st) so I wanted to give board members the chance to choose which dinner time they'd prefer. I made two reservations to give some options so if folks could let me know which restaurant they'd prefer by 4/18 then I can cancel the unneeded reservation (Chophouse is slightly less expensive and Sullivan's is a better time).

Both restaurants have excellent reviews and are less than a 5 mins walk from the Yellow BRKers meetup.

5:00 pm (NOTE: they do need us out by 7pm; they also have an option to pre-order appetizers/entrees)

NOTE: Borsheim's Reception is from 6-9 pm. For those that has been to the AM before, if you could elaborate on what this event is I think it would be helpful for everyone (including myself).

berkshire101:

The group for this dinner will likely have significant overlap with Yellow BRKers and, based on the timing, will be an alternative to the Borsheim's reception (6-9 pm) since Sunday will be a similar event. If you go to this dinner you won't miss out on any Berkshire events as there will likely be enough time to go to the reception afterwards. I think most people attending the dinner will be at the Yellow BRKers meet up first and then will head over for dinner. Both restaurants are within 1 block (5 minute walk) of the Yellow BRKers meetup.

Both restaurants said we can add people to the reservation with a few weeks notice which is why I choose the 4/16 cutoff to finalize a restaurant.

I personally would not recommend the Borsheim's reception on Friday.  I have attended several times and it has always been so packed that you can barely move.  The food and drink lines are impossible.

The Yellow BRKer event is a much nicer venue to meet people and have a nice discussion.  Additionally, the people at the Yellow BRKer event are generally more investment oriented.  The Borsheim's event feels a lot more like a tourist attraction.

If you want to see Borsheims, go Sunday morning.  They serve food and my experience is if you get there early, you can find a parking spot and easily get around.  Buffett and Gates show up usually at noon or 1pm and interact with attendees a bit (however there will be a mob of people around them).

Schwab, I would prefer the later dinner.  Thanks for setting this up!  Do you need additional info?

We are going with Sullivan's. They have a better available time and it sounds like everyone had a good time last year.

I'll send an update of the attendance list, directions, parking, ect in the next week or so. As of now we have at least 13 confirmed. I'll be calling them shortly to find out about vegetarian options, if anyone else has any special requests let me know and sooner the better.

Reservation is for Friday at 6:30 pm

I added aws and gopinath to my list. We only have 1 or at most, 2 spots left. They already had the back rooms booked so we are in the main dining area, thus extra seats may be difficult to add. If you still want to go (or you are bringing a +1 or more) then please let me know as early as possible so I can call the restaurant.

For those with eating restrictions, the restaurant does have vegetarian and vegan options. I'll post them in the next few days. Let me know if you have any other concerns/requests!

I'll see everyone at the happy hour and we can walk to the dinner from there.

I have registered for the meeting but have already registered for the Columbia Business School dinner the same evening so will unfortunately not be able to attend the dinner.  Does anyone know of any other shareholder oriented events on Thursday or Wednesday evening?  Thanks in advance.  -Wes

Hey Everyone,

Sorry for the late response. I have a party for 20 set up at Sullivan's. Everyone who has responded to this thread or pm'd me is signed up. Take a minute to confirm your party size. You only need to let me know if your party size is too small.

Thanks,

Schwab
