wabuffo
Ok - I have to say this part of the AGM transcript is getting me very excited. Mark Leonard hoping he can emulate the great Lord Roy Thomson in CSU's new capital allocation strategy. wabuffo
Libs
There is a reference to sky-high valuations. Question for long-term shareholders. Was there ever a year where management just couldn't put much money to work?
bizaro86
I just read the book he referenced and enjoyed it.

I can see why he liked it, lots of parallels with CSU (buy a bunch of businesses in the same vertical, not much centralization, then expand by investing in competent people in related verticals). The long term value of Thomson came from the specialty publications, as newspapers have essentially died. But at the same time they were rolling up specialty pub they were also doing package holidays and all sorts of other stuff. But they also knew when to fold the businesses that weren't key. sane
Topicus: 1) Anyone have a good way to track insider transactions at Topicus? https://www.sedi.ca/ does not seem to have any filings for some reason. 2) Mark Leonard should have received 800,000 shares at spin, but held just 9,000 at March 2022. Can any one point me to filings showing his sales? Thanks.

I since found the 2021-01-11 transaction disclosed on 794,190 shares "change in the nature of ownership" to Indirect Ownership under the name of Industrial Alliance Securities Inc. I would guess this is some kind of estate planning / tax thing. Anyone have any insight? Bottom line it seems to me that Mark Leonard has not "sold" any of his Topicus shares which he received at the spin-off.
