schin
I bite the bullet - I jedi mind tricked my wife into letting me go to the Berkshire AGM this year while she takes care of our 2 kids. This being my first (and hopefully, not last) time to Berkshire's AGM; I would like any helpful hints on events, stores, restaurants to try out. I want to really maximize my time there. I'm flying in on Thursday afternoon and leaving Sunday morning. So, don't have all the time in the world. Plus, I expect certain events to be overcrowded and not a good use of my time. It's also my first time in Omaha, so I am also interested in some city specific sites - outside of "Woodstock for Capitalist". Places to avoid are always helpful. I am debating about these places: *Gorat's for lunch or Thursday evening? - Is it overrated, if you look at Yelp, there are higher rated steak houses. *Bookworm Bookstore - should I just see them at the AGM booth? *Take a picture outside of Warren's house? *Borsheim/Neb. Furniture Mart visit? All comments welcome.
merkhet
Go do your shopping at the conference center on Friday. That way you can pay attention on Saturday and not have to lug things around.

Or will things be sold out or booths closed?
tede02
My advice would be to sit in one of the ballrooms at the Century Link Center instead of the stadium. It's a lot more comfortable, easier to hear, and you don't have to get there early. I would also warn that the Borsheim's cocktail party tends to be so packed you can't move. I would suggest making other plans. Go out to dinner with someone for example, or go to one of the many gatherings that various people put on. No, you can do that too, but sometimes they do get picked over by Saturday afternoon.

Pablo12345
Gorat’s restaurant is nice but packed over that weekend. Definitely make reservations. They try to handle the crowds but often reservations run way behind. Avoid Gorat’s on Sunday night when they have a special menu for shareholders (higher prices!). There are other equally nice steakhouses; unfortunately Piccolo Pete's is no more. The Borsheim event has food but the lines are crazy. If you go, go early but don't arrive hungry. Whitney Tilson usually has a cocktail party at the nearby Marriott following the Borshiem event. Get on his invitation list. Rosenblatt Stadium and Creighton University might be worth a look if you’re into that sort of thing. There's often an event after the annual meeting at Neb. Furniture Mart. But again, the crowds. I second the suggestion of shopping at the BRK vendors on Friday. Items really sell out. Bring home some Fruit of the Loom t-shirts for the kids. arcube
Can someone advise on how to get the invite for the event. I mean does one need to own BRK and is there a minimum amount needed to get the official entry pass. This is truly a newbie question so much appreciated in advance. No, you do not need to be a shareholder. You can buy passes on eBay about a month before the meeting.
