wachtwoord
Isn't it simply a (very?) high dose of a diabetes medicine with a long term side-effect of insulin-insensitivity (already in the normal diabetic dose)? Further, life long usage seems necessary for lasting effects (at $1k per month and with the health problems of insulin-insensitivity). Still very interesting as it seems to be most effective weight loss substance thus far. Somehow I think when an effective means is found it will indeed comes from the diabetic/blood sugar regulating angle (energy balance 7 mitochondria etc.) Interestingly enough in the anti-aging arena similar products seem to be effective (Metmorfin, berberine ...) DooDiligence
I like the way their core therapies branch into multiple uses. Ironically, in anti-aging, they are attacking Alzeihmer's with semaglutide as well (pardon me if this is a repost of an article from before). https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2020/12/16/2146164/0/en/Novo-Nordisk-to-enter-phase-3-development-in-Alzheimer-s-disease-with-oral-semaglutide.html They are also trying to use semaglutide to attack NASH as well. DooDiligence
Still a long ways to go as they're just now going into 2b trials, but if this works out, it will be a nice adjacency to Novos' core competency. A number of single agents against NASH, said by the more bullish analysts to be a $40 billion-a-year market at peak, have suffered setbacks in the clinic from a number of biopharmas, including Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Gilead itself, Genfit and others. Gilead will hope combinations can be new a way forward and help clear more fat from the liver to reduce the risk of further damage. www.fiercebiotech.com/biotech/gilead-and-novo-nordisk-push-nash-cocktail-deeper-into-clinic
