johnny
Was thinking of offering to livestream this next year and then Charlie started comparing the intelligence of Indians and Chinese and got the sense they would probably decline. LOL. Was that the "Chinese have gambling in their DNA" kind of argument? I don't remember what he says about Indians... I think it was in response to a question about the opportunities for India (following the Deng/China and Lee/Singapore example). My recollection is that he was using "indians are just as smart as chinese" to soften the blow of his followup 2-minute screed against Indian governance/regulation and their killing of some POSCO deal. I am not familiar with this story, but the facts he gave seem consistent with this story about a plant in Odisha: http://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/project-in-odisha-is-over-says-posco-116040801130_1.html

gfp
gotta feel bad for JP Guerin sitting next to Charlie listening to him tell the story of 'you better be able to withstand 50% drawdowns' and 'i regard it as a part of manhood'.. I'm sure Guerin is doing fine though

shalab
He leveraged other stocks and had to bail out of BRK i I remember right. He is doing alright though as he and his family foundation owns > 25% of DJCO. (from DEF14A). He probably owns other businesses as well - so he is doing just fine. gotta feel bad for JP Guerin sitting next to Charlie listening to him tell the story of 'you better be able to withstand 50% drawdowns' and 'i regard it as a part of manhood'.. Jurgis
The bonus videos are circulating on the blogosphere. Charlie is brilliant and generous with his time. Q&A after the 2017 Daily Journal Corporation shareholder meeting This is effing great. :-* Better deal than $3.4M lunch with Warren. ;D In 2015 Charlie ran away immediately after the meeting. I think to DJCO board meeting. Maybe they decided to let hims meet the cultists this year. Wonder if this will continue. Probably will depend on his health ... and annoyance at all the selfie takers. :P ::)

Recognized the dulcet tones of William Green, "The Great Minds" author. Hopefully he's working a good book about munger. LOL @ Munger saying he didn't make it through the last few books about him that "just reprinted a bunch of quotes" That is 100% how I felt about that Tren Griffin book. Total C&P job. alpha asset strategies
Has anyone been able to figure out the name of the small auto parts supplier that Munger made $80 million on after reading about it in Barrons? I'd like to try and find a copy of that old Barron's article. Thanks!

vikx01
Rationale for the speculation that the stock was Tenneco and a link to the Barron's article (again, also a speculation) is in this article: https://www.gurufocus.com/news/489257/timeless-lessons-from-the-2017-djco-meeting--part-ii-the-investment
CorpRaider
Pretty sure he said it was tenneco in the after meeting meeting (or he said munro shocks and someone said tenneco and he said yeah).

sane
Does anyone know for sure the date of the 2018 DJCO Annual Meeting please? Actual date has sometimes differed to prior year's proxy indication, and I need to book travel. 2017 Proxy: "It is expected that the Company’s 2018 Annual Meeting will be held on or about February 14, 2018". Thanks.

merkhet
Does one have to be a shareholder to attend or is it the same as the old wesco meetings where anyone can show? Non-shareholder here, and I've been attending for years. They ask you to sign in and write down how many shares you hold -- you see a lot of zeros on that list.
