NGVC - Natural Grocers by Vitamin Village

Hey all:

 

Anybody else looking at Natural Grocers by Vitamin Village  (NGVC)?

 

I have taken a few peeks at it.  I am intrigued as it is trading near an all time low...and they used to have pretty good financial metrics.

 

SSS have been going down...and they've been opening new stores left & right.

 

The last couple of years capital allocation has not been good. 

 

On the other hand...the stock is trading below book value.  Trading for something like an EBIDTA/EV of 4,  They have something like a PS ratio of something like .16.

 

They are making money...they should be making money next year...

 

I've never been to one, they are not located anywhere near me.

 

I think these guys could certainly be vulnerable to WFM, as I presume their customer base overlaps.....WFM is cutting prices, that should put direct pressure on these guys?

 

The sales and financials are there that if they can get their house in order, they'll do well.  Can they do it?

 

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Hey all:

 

NGVC had a heck of ride!

 

It went up, way, way up....now it is coming back down.  As of today, it is trading for about book value.

 

Looks like the margins & returns have compressed a bunch, but they are still profitable.

 

Looks like they are slowing down on opening new stores. 

 

Might be a speculative buy if it goes down a bit more?

 

Anybody looking at this?  Have any thoughts?

wonder if they take it private .

good stores- we like them

meets a lot of value metrics
