dwy000
This isn't one I'd thought about much but I noticed that quite a few of the value investors have been initiating or adding positions over the past quarter (top new name in Dataroma). After a very cursory review I'm wondering what everyone is seeing that I'm missing. Sales are flat or declining. It's not hugely expensive but not cheap for a declining top line story. Great brands but nothing unassailable. Good cash flow and capital allocation. Any views?
racemize
Maybe some kind of buyout play, e.g., from Kraft-type deal?
DooDiligence
Searched for peanut butter on Amazon & they have a noticeable presence. Consumer brands have no positioning power any more & Amazon labels can take share. Who knows, maybe Amazon will start buying co's like this or like you said 3G/WEB? writser
I am disappointed with this stock. Smuckers sounded like a shady brand of adult entertainment to my foreign ears.

That would be Schmuckers. On an unrelated note, anyone ever eat here? http://schmuckersrestaurant.com From the website, this looks like someone who's got at least 50 locations but there's only 1. thowed
I note a Mr Smucker on the board bought US$1m worth of shares in August at the price of today. I've heard good things about the company in the past, but understood they have been struggling with their acquisition of Big Heart Pet Brands. They have only 1 location....at least it was that way 10 years ago. I have eaten there more times than I can count. I used to live maybe 1 mile from them? They have a tremendous business. Their breakfast is simply excellent, a ton of good food, low priced...Lunch is also pretty good. Pies are also outstanding. Brings back memories seeing that place! Gilp
Their stock has been down after the earnings report: https://seekingalpha.com/pr/17249614-j-m-smucker-company-announces-fiscal-2019-first-quarter-results Seems like a well-run company in a bit of trouble. I'm not familiar enough, just bringing it as FYI. Insiders also believe in the company with significant stock bought in the recent year. Looks like interesting opportunity here. https://www.dataroma.com/m/stock.php?sym=SJM Open Market Insider Buys Date Filed Reporting Name Relationship Trans. Foreign Tuffett
Judging by the increase in their debt levels, it looks like all or nearly all gross profit growth since FY 2011 has been non-organic.
