adventurer
Hello, as I emphasised here: Instead of buying now or even when the current government is in charge, I would rather go for it once the government is gone and the bonds default. Since there are many HFs engaged as well as Goldman Sachs having their hand in there, I am sure the US will not be keen to make any further trades with the new government as long as their "old" debt is not paid. In that respect I have to admit that I do not understand GS to the fullest. The highest chance for profit basically occurs once the bonds default, which tells me they either believe in the govenment or they intend to buy more once the bonds defaulted to influence the new government. Does anyone know where to find the bond terms? I like MrB`s approach because I did not think of that so far, thank you for that. Link to thread: http://www.cornerofberkshireandfairfax.ca/forum/strategies/distressed-sovereign-debt-investing/10/ I am currently thinking of speculating with venezuelan bonds under certain circumstances. The trouble is I can not manage to find the bond terms since I am sure they will include information that is inevitable to know. Does anyone on this board have an idea where to find them? Guest Schwab711
What issue? Or any issue? I think some are not responding to you because if you haven't found the prospectus in 2 months of searching then this might not be the best idea for you. At least keep it in mind when you review. I searched "venezuela government bond prospectus" in Google to find this. Prospectus: https://www.bancobest.pt/ptg/bestsite/best_docs/rep_venez_us922646at10.pdf Example of where they are located: https://www.bourse.lu/security/US922646AT10/29579
rukawa
I think the better question is how would you buy them. Because if you can buy them at a broker than probably the broker could get a prospectus. I imagine the will charge you through the nose for buying them so you might as well at least get them to do some work for you.
Guest cherzeca
"I am currently thinking of speculating with venezuelan bonds under certain circumstances." curious what those circumstances are? i would note that there is recent US law that (if i recall correctly) bars US citizens from buying new refi bonds. so this will be a russian led refi imo. plenty sticky situation. I am looking for this one: USP7807HAP03. EDIT: Got it! The words "bond terms" are apparently the wrong ones. "Prospectus" seems better. Thank you so much! https://settysoutham.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/pdvsa21prospectus.pdf "I am currently thinking of speculating with venezuelan bonds under certain circumstances." curious what those circumstances are? i would note that there is recent US law that (if i recall correctly) bars US citizens from buying new refi bonds. so this will be a russian led refi imo. plenty sticky situation. The first requirement would be that they default. I am not a US citizen and I do not intend to buy anything from the current government as well as recently issued securities. If I analyse the bond I will probably open a new thread showing my analysis for some feedback.
