Hello CBF folks,

I was curious if anyone has used DirectBuy in that past. Please share any comments about the service you would like (i.e. did you think it was good value for the money). Considering membership fees are $1000 for the first year, you have to be actually planning to do some serious shopping to make it worthwhile. Love to hear what everyone has to say.

Hey all:

 

There used to be a "Direct Buy" next to one of my suppliers...

 

I would probably not join/use them.

 

If you get on the interweb, they have a few complaints stories.

 

One of the problems is that they run their business largely without inventory.  They get your order, get your $$$, then go out and buy the stuff.  There are reports of that process taking WEEKS.

 

There are also reports of them selling "open box" & scratch & dent stuff.

 

There are also reports of their stuff costing more than "sale" items at regular stores.  So why join, order, wait & go through that whole hassle not save anything.

Then you've got all the stories about their shady sales/operating tactics.

 

I'm kind of surprised that anybody here would be interested/curious about joining such an outfit.
