NewbieD
Loving this book that's filling a fuzzy patch of american history for me. Stories of speculators in scrips (i.e. subscription rights for govt bonds) and stock jobbers as well as tales of tariff strategy between the US, France and UK show that human nature hasn't changed much since those times. Hamiltons scandals and personal feuds also liven things up.
boilermaker75
I also loved this book. Chernow always does research where he finds things no one else has. For instance all the letters to a newspaper in the Caribbean that were signed "a gentleman from NY." Chernow figured out that was Hamilton. The play is terrific. My daughter took me on one of my visits to LA. She had already seen it multiple times in NYC.
meiroy
Same here. Also has some value added for investors. The US is so lucky it had two geniuses establish its foundation, Hamilton and Franklin.

You are welcome. It is a great read, I could not put the book down. I guess neither could Lin-Manuel Miranda!
