Great podcast episode recommendation thread

Another one I really liked. This interview of Peter Attia by Dan Harris gets pretty personal in the middle part, but it's pretty powerful stuff. It covers meditation, childhood trauma, over-achieving urges, etc. Good stuff.

Patrick O'Shaughnessy interviewing Bill Gurley is always a fascinating conversation. This one on IPO finance was particularly illuminating for me. https://pca.st/bn7ceysc

Invest Like the Best has become my favorite financial podcast, partly because Patrick is not afraid to stray away from finance in search of interesting conversations. His interview with Boys Varty is my favorite in that vein: https://pca.st/iU9U

Cheers

Both these were great. Two others that he did away from finance and that introduced me to two fascinating people are his interviews with Jocko Willink (ex-Navy SEAL, has his own great podcast where he reads from military history books, amazing stuff, start chronologically) and Peter Attia (who I've already mentioned here often).

Jocko Willink being interviewed by Patrick O'Shaughnessy sounds interesting, but I couldn't find that episode. Did it happen?

Wow, I think I dreamed it... I could swear I had first heard of Jocko via Patrick, maybe some other guest mentioned him? But it's probably just my memory failing me... I know he's done interviews with Tim Ferriss and maybe Joe Rogan before starting his own podcast, so maybe that's what I was thinking of.

I very much enjoyed this podcast from Jolly Swagman hosting Marc Cohodes:

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-jolly-swagman-podcast/id1236553683?i=1000443953331

I had to tone it down at home due the use of colorful aphorisms by Marc Cohodes. :o This podcast is best enjoyed with the one with John Hampton as these guys know each other well.

Interview/conversation with Daniel Kahneman (Nobel price winner, author of Thinking fast and slow) by Shane Parrish:

Not finance/investing directly, and probably familiar stuff if you have read him before. But it is always interesting to listen to Daniel Kahneman. He gives some pretty concrete advice for better decision-making. It is also a good reminder for the rest of us, to hear how humble and realistic (that is: not optimistic) he is about recognizing our own biases and improve our thinking.

I interviewed one of my colleagues who has trained a lot of the monks for the Dalai Lama, currently works for PayPal and Google, and worked with Chip Wilson to help start Lululemon from 0. One of the most extraordinary human beings I've ever met in my life.

I went thru a phase where I was burned out on most investing podcasts so I had to take a break.  I found the We're Alive podcast - a Zombie podcast with hundreds of episodes.  Well done, lots of twists and turns and great character development.

It got so addicting to me that I listened to it for hours each night.

Not the typical rec but sometimes you need to turn off the brain and relax.

I enjoyed the Motley Fool Podcast with Ben Hunter (Epsilon theory). They discussed a bunch of topics, including the importance for the CEO to generate narrative, stock buybacks as well as a bunch of other things.

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/industry-focus/id717428711?i=1000466372547

I think especially his observation that narratives seem to be more important than fundamentals nowadays is an interesting factoid that has occasional been touched here.
