COKE - Coca-Cola Consolidated

This brings back embarrassing memories from years ago when I almost made this mistake when I was trying to decide which stock to buy with my first $100.  The only reason I managed to avoid it was because the word “Bottling” in the company name seemed a bit strange and made me look closer.

This report is so interesting, just the correlation between the name/ticker change and the run-up in share price.  Just amazing.

The ticker didn't change, it has always been COKE.

Also, Exhibit 5 in the report is somewhat misleading.  This link shows a longer view.

This isn't to say the stock isn't expensive or hasn't run up for whatever non-fundamental reasons.

Since they changed the name of the company, I think the search results come up more "confusingly" in the Robinhood app.  This is a bottling company that has doubled in the past year (and the 2018 results were pretty poor).  I am not 100% sure the reason for the doubling is the Robinhood search confusion, but it sure is funny if it is.

Very good read.

Pretty amazing that such a small firm with less than $3 million of AUM has that type of impact. On May 13th (looks like this was posted on the 14th) the stock high an intraday high of a little over $413 a share down to under $317 earlier today.
