Parsad
McDonald's released their 4th Q same store sales, and they were up 0.1% in the U.S. That number is on the higher end for the fast food industry! http://finance.yahoo.com/news/McDonalds-profit-is-122B-in-apf-865278868.html?x=0&sec=topStories&pos=6&asset=&ccode= It will be very interesting to see how Steak'n Shake's 1st Q same store sales number will look, especially since it will be Sardar's first full "year over year" quarter where he has been in charge. I would expect the numbers to be very good...perhaps up 3-4% as they are driving traffic hard to Steak'n Shake. Cheers!
oldye
inferior goods tend to do well during recessions :) Sorry had to put that in, Mcd's average about 2.2 million dollars in sales per store and they're probably around capacity so you can't expect the same type of numbers. I assume you think Sardar will eventually get 1.8-2.0 million sales?
Parsad
I think $1.8M is possible, but it will be tough. In'N Out does that, McDonalds does that...not far-fetched if SNS can do that over time with a sound focus on operations and execution. In regards to sales per store, McDonald's is very mature so I agree the averages are harder to increase, but they are still on the top end of the fast-food market. It's just a public comparative for SNS. If they want to be one of the best, then you have to compare to MCD or In'N Out. Cheers!
