kravcorp
I am going to assume that in the near future a good amount of companies may file BK. Is their a source or database that lists these companies and their assets? Anyone recommend any resources about buying assets from BK court and how it works? I am thinking more about small business, not publicly traded firms.

netnet
I tried BK plays (small non-public company) 2 ways. The first was buying an asset I knew about (before BK), that was valuable and that I could 'exploit' in the sense I knew how to make money with it. That was quite successful. After that, I figured well I would just plow through pacer (BK part of federal court records, www.pacer.gov and look at alot of assets. That was a huge time sink and ultimately was a waste of time. So the hybrid of that model is to look for BK's in areas you know about. In today's world there are probably Google alerts that you would work. That's my 2 cents. (Not my thing, but I once met a guy who was a really sharp restaurant operator. Basically took over good location but failed restaurants turned them and either sold or operated them. He got breaks on leases and cheap equipment. If he is still around, there will be lots of opportunities.)

How did you find out about them, how did you buy them, how did you profit, etc. When you say small, what size are you talking about?
