formthirteen
I have a basket of BATS.L, SWMA.ST, PM, and MO. I bought PM and MO during the pandemic crash. I’m glad I decided to pay a bit more for quality (PM), but I’ve been going down the quality spectrum and have been adding more and more BATS.L to the basket this year. I consider these as ”better than cash” and I’m happy with the dividends and returns so far. The ESG issue is real, but I managed to trick myself into believing in "invert, always invert" and that ESG investors who want to change the world should therefore invest in tobacco stocks. Essentially I see these stocks as low beta, low duration equities with a good degree of inflation protection. Not a bad place to hide while much of the world seems to have lost its mind. I'd rather sit in these companies than in cash given the looming inflation threat. Couldnt agree more with you...
