shalab
Got it in mail today along with three coupons. First I thought I got the Berkshire annual report, I was wondering how I got it so early but turns out it is the SNS report. The only downside for Sardar if any is that there is another person who owns more SNS than he does.
Parsad
The only downside for Sardar if any is that there is another person who owns more SNS than he does. It's probably only an issue if Gabelli has any specific intentions. Also, I'm sure most of the shareholders who received their shares from the WEST distribution, are quite beholden to Sardar and happy to see him remain in control, thus would probably vote their shares in his favor. Most of that original 15% stake Lion Fund, WEST, etc is probably intact as far as support, and they've also bought more through Mustang, Dash, Cooley, etc since. And that doesn't even include all other shareholders whose shares only have any economic value today, because of the work they've done at Steak'n Shake in the last year and a half. Looking forward to getting my annual report! Cheers!
farnamstreet
Sanjeev, Interesting. Given that Mustang owns shares of SNS, and SNS is in the process of acquiring WEST, does that mean that SNS has found a way to translate increases in its share price into earnings? Guest Bronco
I have my doubts that Gabelli (or his people) want to takeover SNS. Does anyone have any anecdotes of this happening with other companies? At least what I have read about Gabelli in the last couple years (Barron's), I seem to associate more with his style than others. Perhaps he is just making a decent investment, like all the people on this board with SNS stakes. Just my 2 cents.
goldfinger
Why would Gabelli want to take control when he has a very strong operational CEO at the helm. Isn't his position more a vote of confidence in Sardar and SNS potential?
