link01
very interesting, thnx! socks are a universal consumable staple in non 3rd world western societies, so its encouraging to see the recent uptick. looks like people were willing to tolerate a greater degree of threadbare-ness or holes in their socks there for a while...unless, like me, they had a couple of drawer fulls of extra socks from several xmases past & they finally depleted their reserves. Phoenix01
twacowcfa, I like the way you think. What is the long term correlation of socks to the markets?
Zorrofan
I recently read a report that consumers are willing to spend on esentials (like socks I hope!) but not so much on non-esentials i.e. luxery goods etc. I still think consumer spending is pretty weak overall. JEast
In addition to socks being a universal consumable staple in non 3rd world western societies, light bulb sales have tracked very well with the economy. Cheers JEast
ericd1
JEast, others... How does the DJ Transportation average measure up as an indicator of the economy? Anyone have the light bulb numbers? Thanks in advance
twacowfca
twacowcfa, I like the way you think. What is the long term correlation of socks to the markets? Positive correlation for Red Sox, negative correlation for White Sox. ;D
