LVLT - Level 3

To be told, as much as I hate having to read this NFLX' earnings report because it is making me licking my wounds for selling out of NFLX way too early at a time when I thought I had a 2-baggers.  Stupid me!

These are very nice numbers.  NFLX now has more customers than the largest MSO in the country: Comcast.  Bam!!! Take that Comcast!  Comcast just got suckerpunched.  ;D ;D

But it's better than that my Brker_guy buddy, because Netflix is not limited by any "TERRITORIAL BOUNDARIES" thanks to, "The Network Partner You Can Rely On!"  ;D

Where's that COMCAST engineer banging his fat RING FINGER loud on the table in agreement with their soon to be retired, SVP, Joe Waz, while supporting the unwarranted, unnecessary GOUGING of Netflix subscribers just because they believed they could!!!!!!!!

Waz up with that, DOC!!!!!!!!!! LOL!

Ben Graham, please teach a student of the market something today. I have been attempting to decipher what this might mean since the day of its filing but kept coming up empty.

Why would a certificate of Nasdaq(CERTNAS) be filed for (3) at this juncture? I have always hoped they would leave the Nasdaq Exchange inclusive of the dubious operators who have mismanaged the handling of its security over the years.  >:(

If I heard the story correctly, Brker_guy, Mr. Original Bond, aka, Mr. Connery took stock in (3) in exchange for his "voice over" services. The English girl's accent does sound sweet with that soft womanly intelligence behind her. Now, if she works cheap, too, at least cheaper than 007 may have in the past, I really like her! I wonder if James Bond would have sold his stock in (3) soon after those commercials, or if Walter told him to hold onto them because he would be happy!  :-X

Recently, Jeff Storey spoke about the expansion dreams of his engineering team in eastern Europe along with the lead man's hopes to connect to Alaska rather quickly!

Do you think they can get there, from here?  ;D

Prunes, this thing is worth somewhere between today's silly stuck on extremely "low volume" quote, and a hell of a lot more in the form of "multiples" and "doubles" that will make SILVER PALE in comparison by the time this is over!  ;)

(3) soldiers carrying the beautiful blonde network must do their Goose-step due east all the way through Siberia before next winter and X the Bering Strait to meet the cute brunette, Sarah Palin, on the other end.  ;D Hello Alaska!

That's my "STOREY" and I'm sticking with it!  ;) Investors want "GROWTH STOCKS?" Growth to every part of the globe is insufficient for their pocketbooks to handle, it seems. Going through Russia at 110 Gbps very soon.

http://seekingalpha.com/news-article/849550-beltelecom-expands-internet-gateway

The capacity of the gateway towards Russia is 90Gbps

Beltelecom plans to increase its gateway to Russia by 20Gbps soon.

Carl, VERY NICE FIND!  Let's here it for the (3) Sales Force!

I hope we will see an actual PR from (3) soon to legitimize this tidbit of news we are getting from second and third parties.  It would be nice if (3) goes public with it like they did with the NFLX news.

Getting to Sarah Palin through Russia with Love, and a beautiful blonde network being carried on our backs wasn't going to be easy and it still may not be, Brker_guy! (3) has to act in stealth mode like the secret agent man James Bond is, of course.  8) I have always told you that (3) acts like the CIA in the manner which they guard information! No wonder I couldn't get my personal tour in their data centers(you have mail)! The beautiful blonde must be hidden under the sheets until her paying customers can no longer keep their eyes off of her-as a matter of fact they need the light she brings to see and hear-nor their mouths from drooling.   ;D

What a day!  We start out the day with Prince and Princess wedding coverage to "Bond" voice-over in our commercials and ends the day with a possible Russian/Belarusian contract win via "Russian With Love" starring "Bond" voice-over all-over again  8)(It's deja vu all over again.  ;D ;D)

You are right, Carl.  We need to be in secret silent mode to kill off those shorties(You got mail as well)!  :D

Did you see the news about the Sony Playstation break-in?  The news is a lot worse than I thought.  Credit data are stolen from Playstation Network

MNM's have a lock, i.e., collar on this stock pending the current acquisition it seems. Who, what and how will that "LOCK" be broken?

Next acquisition, please! Lights, cameras, ACTION! Roll em! There's still a CON MAN loose that must be trained. 8)

I am hoping what you mean, if I understand you correctly, Brker_guy, is that VZ tells the world they shut down the network to make the switch to "The Network Partner You can Rely On!"  ;D

Regarding those free loaders at Akamai, I have been hearing that they have their heads in "The Clouds" these days, attempting to reach CEO Sagan's relative and deceased astronomer, Carl's STARS in the SKY! Apparently, they have given up on being a CDN because they don't own a network!  ;D

But hark, I hear the ANGELS SING that (3) is now moving to those great WHITE CLOUDS in the sky along with Global Crossing in order to cast JUDGEMENT against such FOOLISH MEN overreaching their BOUNDARIES!  ;)

Carl, you are full of musical notes!!!  I am impressed.  You are trying to bring back the Beatles?  Or are you trying to bring back John Lenon?  Can't tell, but I like it!!!  ;D :D  You are one funny, dude!  Your writing has a touch of musical notes to them.  They are funny to read.

You should check out the AKAM's message board.  It's really funny there.  There are a few people who sounded like a bunch of hyperventilated AKAM bagholders.  :D

They are forecasting "seasonal slowdown". I take this to mean as "We are getting clobbered by competition in new opportunities and contract renewals."  Losing NFLX this quarter alone definitely can't help.

The shares are down 9.5% in the AH.

I think my interest in listening to "classical music" sometimes while I write, has wired me to strike musical notes at times. I am not limited to just classical mind you, as I am all over the board including some of the foul rap crap that has somehow been elevated to main stream.   ???

I do love (3)'s Grooveshark site as a point of reference for music listeners, by the way.   ;)

Those Akamai owners with that cocky, young CFO, whose name is JD, or JR something, spent a great deal of "capital" buying shares from the low to mid twenties all the way up into the forties as I recall, so it will be interesting to see how FRUITFUL their capital allocation skills ultimately become!

In addition, I was always fearful of their large cash holdings being MIRED DOWN in "student loan" tranches, a place I would be fearful of even in better economic times.

It's also great to see the tables turned onto a different set of  "bag holders!"  ;D When that Wall Street Beast finds you out of favor, there is nowhere to hide except in your own shame, once they have all successfully exited stage left that is!

How do you guys get comfortable with the "last mile" problem? I understand that bandwidth usage is increasing rapidly, but wouldn't the ability for LVLT's assets to become fully utilized be bottlenecked by poor residential broadband? Seems to be that for LVLT to truly capitalize on its assets, Comcast et al would need to make some real capex that those companies don't want to make.

Prunes, that's a 64 million dollars question. How?  You just have to suck it up and live with it. This is the reason why I have been reading and trying to get my hands on what NFLX is facing with their last miles issue in Canada since Rogers is capping the users at 9GB per month. From what I have seen from the earnings release of NFLX the other day, they are deploying variable bit rate encoding via H.264 video compression to adapt to the BW cap. I suggest you read the NFLX and its CC transcript to get the lay of the land. Also, Dan Rayburn put a good article the other day on how NFLX is adjusting this new operating environment. Those are sources to learn about the last mile issues.

Overtime, the OTT contents will push these last miles guys to lift their caps or spend their CAPEX dollars to let more contents thru. Look, YouTube is moving into the movie rental business now. Are these telcos going to stop YouTube?  Plus, GoogleTV 2.0 or WebTV 2.0 will be the ways of the future for home entertainment and these last miles are fighting a losing battle.
