lol.

But probably doesn't mean much. A lot of uber-techies have 2 of everything and use them in turn to be really familiar with all the different techs on the market. There's an interview with Sergey where he says that he uses Bing and all other search engines.

How does anyone know that that's even a blackberry, or even Eric Schmidt? There are android phones with a physical keyboard thatblook like blackberries from that distance.

it's a Motorola or Samsung. But BB fanatics have to grasp onto anything I guess, even something as wholly unrelated to the investment thesis as this.

The Truth hurts, its not the first time hes been caught with it and it was posted on the Android site and  you're the one quoting annonymous letters but when you a see a pic of the guy using the phone you cant believe it?

LOL!!! :D

, you focus on stuff like this. I will focus on the reality, such as yet another rimm downdrade and another new low....it's human nature that when there is "stress" that we focus on "diversions". Things never change.

Seems to me you are letting MR. mkt make your decisions for you the falling price for TRE confirmed your suspicions that it was a fraud ,the analysts downgrade and new low confirms that RIMM is a failing company. I have no insight either way on either company but a lot of value investors look at the new low list  as the pond to do their fishing in.

Nope the intrynsic value of a company is a number that is independent of its mkt price. Mr mkt some days agrees or disagrees with your analysis but it does not make your analysis more or less correct. An analysis down grade sure as heck  is nothing that would make me change my mind unless he presented information that I was not aware of. A falling share price and analysts down grades are EXACTLY what a value investor looks for the guy who bought all of that TRE if he has done his homework must be sending the Muddy Watters guy a thankyou note and a bottle of Champagne right now.  I added to my investment in TEVA today if they closed the mkt in TEVA for the next 5 years I have a pretty high conviction that I made the right decision. Those who are investing for themselves have the ability to run a marathon as do Mr Buffett and Mr Watsa because of their structure unfortunately most professional money managers are compelled to run a series of 100 yard dashes.

Hey guys, I am looking for a blog post about RIMM from a few weeks ago where the writer starts off by posing a question "Would you buy this company?" And then goes through the fundamentals without saying the name and then finally reveals its rimm.

I can't seem to remember where I saw it.

Thx in advance!

His points are largely focused on past results though, where it's of course the future (and future expectations) that drives stock prices. RIM's P/E can rise if earnings go down. I remember during the oil boom in 2007 companies like RIG were selling for over $155/share, but with a P/E of only around 5. A few months later it was selling for $44 a share, with a pretty high P/E. I 'm not saying RIM's earnings will disappear that quickly, but the current multiple is clearly anticipating a significant drop in earnings.

I don't hate RIM, and think they can resume their high growth rate, but think once it's clear that that is happening, there will still be plenty of time to buy the stock. I don't mind missing some gains if future gains become more apparent. What worries me (and apparently a lot of investors) is that in RIM's management's words, the next leg of the companies growth is still a year away.

I wasn't endorsing that article. In fact, I think the author's argument is naive. I was responding to the poster before me.

The author's argument is quite bad, he is looking in the rear view mirror. The balance sheet is not really supporting the stock yet, so the bet is really that they will turn their business around and PE expansion will happen.

It's still an interesting article because it demonstrates one way in which investors fall into value traps (not saying that RIMM is a trap!). He tries to apply a "traditional" value technique of assessing a normalized business model and considering the manageability of a dislocation to a situation that requires more of an entrepreneurial perspective.

The author's website is pretty good overall.

I know you're just posting this but that story is just one newspaper/online source quoting another with the usual RIMM bashing at the end - of course no mention of the fact Android Apps being run on the BBs.

This "reporting" is getting even more shoddy with every passing article

And the Kicker:

Apple’s stellar results prompted one expert to tell Bloomberg News that “Apple is in its own asset class.” Based on its market capitalization of its stock,

Any body else remember crazy verbage such as this.. 0h sometime around the turn of the millenium?
