linealdin
Evrim hits $1.08! Altius position worth C$12.37 million at that level. Loooong way to go before a deposit is defined at Cuale. Will the drill holes define mineralization that is lower or higher gold content than the surface results? What about metallurgy? Location is pretty good. In a mountainous area not too close to residents who might be bothered by a mining operation. Road and power lines cross the property. Warm weather (the famous beach resort of Puerto Vallarta is 75 kilometers away) so year round drilling is possible. The Jalisco state has a mining heritage. linealdin
drilltracker on evrim https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/cdn.ceo.ca/1dcsfuq-Evrim%20April%202018%20Final.pdf Amazing! The chart indicates that the Cuale trenching results are outliers: Some of the longest trenches in the historical database and relatively high grades considering those lengths. That indicates the potential for a high value, low cost per tonne, open pit deposit. From the chart it looks like the Cuale 351 meter trenching intercept is the longest gold trench intercept in the database. (My understanding is that some of the historic trenching results at Adventus’s Sesmo and other targets are also outliers in this database.) mugwump
I don't know if this affects altius or not Yamana Gold Inc. ("Yamana") continues to discover additional resources at the producing Chapada mine in Brazil and as a result has begun examining a potential plant expansion that would increase the processing rate from 23 million tonnes per annum ("Mtpa") to a rate of up to 32 Mtpa. Yamana filed an updated NI 43-101 Technical Report on the Chapada mine during the first quarter of 2018 which outlined a life of mine plan for 29 years of copper and gold production. Yamana has also made updates to the processing plant at Chapada in order to improve recoveries. Most recently a cleaner circuit expansion was commissioned to provide flexibility in processing various ore types. The upgrade has demonstrated improvements to both gold and copper recovery at higher processing rates, and while processing lower grade ores. For more information, visit the Yamana website at www.yamana.com and see press releases dated February 15, 2018 and March 29, 2018.
linealdin
https://ceo.ca/@newton/newtoninterviews-paddy-nicol-evrim-resources-evm Interview with Paddy Nicol at Evrim re: exciting developments at Cuale. 1) First round of work at Cuale cost $300K. Next step is more trenching, geophysics and sampling starting in mid-May. Looking at 3000 meter drill program, costing $750K to $1 million, to begin in late June, permit pending. 2) Evrim has $5.4 million in cash today so well-funded for the Cuale work. 3) “So much silica in the ground it was tough to get a charge through it.” This is good, indicates La Gloria could be a deep deposit. linealdin
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4620180 Tentative labor deal struck at IOC! If approved by union membership the strike will have only lasted 3 weeks. Immaterial. I hope IOC took the stoppage opportunity to do some maintenance on plant equipment. LIF shares should get a little pop on the news though Syria activity weighs down the market.

linealdin
Including the 2 million warrants (exercisable at 50 cents) Altius has a potential 13.453 million share position in EVM, worth C$19.78 million at the current stock price of C$1.47. Excluding the short intercepts of remarkable bonanza grades Trench 4 is basically 106 meters at 3.8 g/t. Not that there’s anything wrong with finding bonanza grades. This trench result is, again, another outlier in the Drill Tracker database of gold trenching results.
linealdin
Resource Capital Funds sold most of its Champion position in recent weeks. Part of the reason for the pressure on the stock price. * LIF up 6% on the news of tentative labor agreement. Should move higher when results of the union vote to ratify the deal are announced. I think 1g/t is still enough gold to justify an open pit mine, and if there are super high grade targets there as well, there is potential to improve the NPV by having huge production right at the start of the mine. It should start trading on April 26th. Arcas project was originally acquired by Altius from Teck, who drilled 1500 meters on the property. linealdin
Notes on the preliminary Q1 numbers (final numbers always end up higher): 1) One of the best quarters for electrical coal revenue since Altius bought the royalty package. The political shenanigans in Alberta have shut down some of the weaker/older coal plants in Alberta (Battle River #3, H.R. Milner, Sundance #1, #2, #3) but that in turn forces the Genesee and Sheerness complexes to run at max capacity. Alberta still needs coal power to keep the lights on. Ends up being more money in Altius’s pocket. 2) Potash is really rolling. C$2.228 million in quarterly revenue is nearly C$9 million on an annualized basis. That doesn’t include the Liberty potash purchase. I think we will see C$16 million annually from the whole potash package. 3) Cheviot is back on track for the quarter. But the latest Teck investor day presentation indicates “Cardinal River production slowing to 2020 closure. 1.4 Mt in 2018; 1.8 Mt capacity.” Cheviot/Cardinal River is now classified, like the long-closed Quintette coal mine, as a “potential growth opportunity.” Don’t hold your breath waiting for the Redcap deposit at Cardinal River to be developed. linealdin
https://www.bhp.com/media-and-insights/prospects/2017/07/feeding-the-world-the-case-for-potash BHP’s two-part case for why current low potash prices are unsustainable. If they are correct we will see C$30 million to C$40 million in Altius annual potash revenue during this cycle. The trends are longterm and inexorable: Arable cultivated land is limited, but population is rising, and food demand is rising at an even faster rate than population (eating more meat). How to get that limited amount of arable land to feed the world’s hunger? Application of fertilizers like potash.
linealdin
update on canstar/adventus/altius deal https://ceo.ca/@nasdaq/canstar-resources-adventus-zinc-and-altius-minerals Canstar raises C$1.5 million, double the C$750K raise required. Good market interest in this consolidated vehicle. Buchans will have 3000 meters drilled as soon as the deal closes. Altius runs the drill program and holds a 2% royalty on the property. linealdin
At March 31st Altius has owned the coal royalties for 3 years and 11 months. Total revenue from electrical and metallurgical coal since purchase: C$65.848 million. That’s a lot of revenue in a relatively short period of time. I’m hoping for another 8 to 10 years of similar, or slightly lower, payouts.
