http://www.firstpost.com/business/iphone-5c-for-rs-2500-emi-is-rcom-risking-it-all-with-apple-contract-1206815.html

With zero down payments for 16GB models, a subscriber would pay Rs 2,599 per month for an iPhone 5c and Rs 2,999 per month for an iPhone 5s for 24 months to Reliance. As opposed to the upfront cost of Rs 41,900 and Rs 53,300 for iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s respectively. The deal is all inclusive of usage charges, which includes unlimited calls (national and local), 3G internet and unlimited SMSes.

That is great news. This will change the nature of the game. Hopefully, they can replicate it in other markets.

Apologies if this article has already been posted: http://news.investors.com/technology-click/101013-674580-aapl-iphone-6-may-arrive-in-q2-2014.htm

"An Apple supplier told White the iWatch will be more than an extension of the iPhone, but will act as a home-control device. It will be a "multi-purpose gateway in allowing consumers to control their home (i.e., heating/cooling, lights, audio, video, etc.)," White said. "We found this discussion interesting as it opened our eyes to why the 'iWatch' has the potential to appeal to a much broader audience of consumers than just another mobile device."

I think this is an interesting space and offers a lot of potential should Apple enter it with the iWatch. Also, I think Nest Labs (Co-founded by Apple Alum Tony Fadell) is a promising company to watch out in this space!

Some initial iPad datapoints:

http://www.tuaw.com/2013/11/04/atandt-ipad-activations-this-weekend-up-more-than-200-compared-t/

http://gigaom.com/2013/11/04/based-on-adoption-rates-ipad-air-weekend-sales-may-top-5-million/

I played with the iPad Air this weekend. I still think that the iPad Mini is the flagship tablet and the one to watch.

I think the Air will need to evolve into or be replaced by a laptop replacement device.

I also played with the 5c. Very impressed. There is one small design flaw, other than that great potential.

Some cool stuff about display technology:

http://www.macrumors.com/2013/11/05/apples-ipad-air-adopts-igzo-technology-for-thinner-lower-power-displays/

As noted in IHS iSuppli's component cost analysis released earlier today, the iPad Air now uses just 36 LEDs to light its display, down from as many as 84 in previous generations. [...]

Among the evidence cited by Soneira for his claim that the iPad Air has moved to IGZO technology are power measurements showing that the iPad Air's display offers a 57% improvement in power efficiency compared to previous iPads, a jump that simply would not be possible with a-Si technology. IGZO offers significantly better electron mobility than a-Si, allowing for much lower power requirements. The shift in technology has also enabled other improvements in the display of the iPad Air compared to its predecessor, and Soneira notes that Apple continues to offer an excellent display on its tablet lineup.

I did not expect them to ramp up IGZO so quickly. This is a major coup if it is true.

The introduction of IGZO should mean improving margins for iPads in the future. This is only the first quarter so yields are likely To improve going forward.

Received my iPad Air today, one day ahead of schedule from what Apple estimated for shipping.

I have to say, I now understand why they changed the name to "Air". It feels ridiculously light, yet solid. My iPad 3 now feels like a brick.

It's super fast, feels really good, and basically just makes everything that was good about the iPad better. I think that it will sell very well, especially once people can try one from a friend or in a store.

I'm sure the retina Mini will sell really well too, but now at least the difference is more like between the Macbook Air 11 inches and 13 inches... You pick based on what works better for you, rather than making tradeoffs between speed, screen resolution, etc. So any iPad is Best iPad now, which isn't a bad thing :D

looks like this round of apple products is a big success

this buys apple at least 2 years time for them to create new categories, and to strengthen their software offering in their eco system

looks like the current apple price is still undervalued at slightly above 8x PE ex cash

Thx Liberty...now I need to get one  >:(

I also got this:

http://goincase.com/shop/incase-origami-workstation-for-ipad-2

(I already had a wireless Appel keyboard)

It's great. Feels like a laptop. That's the only thing that bugged me with the iPad. Once in a while, I want to write detailed notes while sitting comfortably on the sofa, but I don't want to use my laptop because the iPad is so much nicer.. Now I just sit the iPad in that thing and boom, instant laptop with full-size keyboard.

Heart-wrenching story about bonded labor in Apple's supply chain:

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-11-07/an-iphone-tester-caught-in-apples-supply-chain#p1

My two cents: Although, this problem is systemic and plagues many more companies across industries, I feel Apple can and should do more to stop this from happening.

And so should others.

This article make some good points.  I'm all for holding a company responsible for the working conditions of its employees, but when you start holding it responsible for its suppliers and the suppliers to its suppliers and the suppliers to the suppliers to its suppliers, where does it end?

FWIW I picked up a 5S on Friday and took it on a training ride today.  Using the GPS, playing music and hooked into HRM, Cadence/Speed, bar mounted display via BTLE, the battery dropped from 98% to 83% over a two hour ride.  If the battery meter calibration is approximately the same as my 4S then this is one truly amazing device.  I may finally have something that will last an event without having to lug around a spare battery.  To say I am delighted is an understatement.

cheers

I am not an apple fan

but so far the feedback I saw is really positive for ip5s and ipad air

even without a true new category, I believe this will buy the apple brand at least 2 years

It's a huge success after iphone4

it's still *the* premium smart phone and pad brand
