Why do you post clickbait crap like this?  ???

Ahah!!! ;D ;D

Usually I post and leave anyone to judge the content of those articles… But I agree with you… This is too much!!

Cheers,

Gio

I don't think posting everything you find and leaving it to others to decide if it has value works. If everyone did that, the board would just be an unfiltered Google News. I suggest you only post what you think has real value or is particularly interesting.

This works imo for “good news”… Instead, I want to post as many “bad news” as I can find… If they can be dismissed with a shrug of the shoulders, well I have lost the time of a click! ;)

Fast hardware, nice specs, magnesium alloy body, ... but one glaring fatal flaw that Microsoft is helpless to do anything about...  It runs Windows.

I am not sure I understand… Could you elaborate a bit more?

Thank you!

I still use a Linux machine at work, but it used to be that all the management and sales guys carried around Dell laptops, because they ran Windows and MS Office, and it was the only thing the company supported.  I've noticed over the last few years more and more of these people carrying Macbooks around instead.  And my company now supports Mac as well as Windows.  I'm sure Windows is still entrenched in many organizations, but I think when given the choice many employees would rather be using a Mac.  Windows is surviving only by the inertia of having been so dominant for so long in organizations that are slow to change, even though many (most?) people who use it hate it.  The Mac's advantage isn't in having faster microprocessors.

He means that's hes an apple sheep who thinks OSX is a better OS, Its not. Its about the same as Windows. The negatives for a Mac are many. Macs don't have the software that windows have. Macs don't have the flexibility. Macs suck at gaming. Macs suck for business use. Macs are good for only one thing and that is to fleece their apple sheep. Apple used to make powerhouses in the 90s when they were using the IBM chips.

Sure, post the interesting bad news and counter-arguments. But you can skip articles written by people who obviously have no idea what they're talking about and just wanted to write a shocking headline to get pageviews.

There's an infinite amount of trash on the internet, no need to spread it. By posting that link, you made me click it because there's an implied recommendation from you when you post something (why post it if you don't want people to go read it?). If you know it's crap, don't make people waste their time. That's all I'm saying.

You mean that operating system that still has huge market share, especially in enterprise (mine would not even consider leaving it); works; is cheap; has all the productivity apps you'd want; etc?

Plus: surely Microsoft are precisely the people who can do something about Windows, by improving it?

This is probably better placed on the MSFT thread but I can easily see Surface Book, Surface Pro, and eventually Surface Phone, all priced attractively below the iSuite of products, being a very attractive suite of products for enterprises.

Yes - although I suppose I am wondering if this is the trend of the last 5 years, not the next 5.  I've seen iPads proliferate in meetings (not on desktops) over the last 5; but in the last few months I keep coming across Surfaces.

I agree! The title is ridiculous and his conclusions are ridiculous too…

But offshore cash (a mountain of offshore cash!) is true…

Therefore, let’s just say that I am interested in hearing what people on this board think about the offshore cash issue!

In the current environment Apple can borrow whatever cash it needs at very little cost, so I think it can afford to let the cash sit offshore and wait for an opportunity to bring it back when it can do so under more favorable terms or until it can figure out a way to use it offshore.  Letting the thieves in Washington steal a huge portion of it shouldn't be an option.

Totally disagree: should repatriate and tender 20% of the stock. Even with repatriation taxes and the premium for a tender, it would be appreciative.

My math has that they have ~$5 net cash per share, including off balance sheet liabilities and repatriation taxes (that's intentionally conservative)

Sincerely, that is less than I thought…

Yeah, I'm subtracting out all of the liabilities and adding back in things like inventory and Land (at a haircut) -- so it's more of a gross liquidation value than net cash on hand. There's no reason they couldn't return much more than that to share holders if they were willing to pay repatriation taxes.

Also, they've been buying back stock and issuing dividends at a rate higher than domestic FCF, and the domestic FCF hasn't grown as fast as the foreign in the last couple of years, so this is likely to be an issue going forward.

Guest Grey512

Gio,

With due respect, even novice COBF readers with interest in AAPL probably already have AAPL on their watchlist on things like SA (and Google Alerts) etc. So I think these constant news link posts by you are overkill and are essentially spam.

Difficult to draw the line between what is spam/click-bait (particularly given that the SA post that you are linking to is written by a guy who posts at least a couple of articles on AAPL each week) and what is genuinely useful sharing (e.g. infrequent, lengthy interviews on YouTube), but you get the idea.

Again - with all due respect.
