Do you think clicking a link or button in the web browser, and then having a zoomed-in popup window display, which requires you to click the same button again is a good experience?

Are you short Apple? If not, why not? Seems like you just love trolling this thread.

browsing on the 2013 nexus 7 is a great experience. I have it. I use it. I bought it. I am happy with my purchase, and that I have an extra Benjamin in my wallet because I didn't buy the higher priced lower rez apple tablet. This tablet is the highest rated tablet (tied with mini) at TheVerge. They know their stuff. 396 positive reviews of the tablet on Amazon in the few days it's been available. Your bias is clearly on display with this topic. Are you long Apple? If not why not? Seems like you just like trolling anything not Apple.

Are you long Apple?

Yes. Have been for many years.

Your repeated logic in this thread is 'other companies make good products and sell them for less money than Apple = Apple is doomed.'

Companies have been releasing cheaper products than Apple for the last 30 years. I just don't understand what you're trying to accomplish here. Trying to get Apple shareholders to sell their shares by mentioning that some non-apple products get good reviews?

The phone and tablet markets are large enough for both Apple and Google (and other companies) to both be successful. You act like their has to be a 'winner' here for both companies to make money.

And in the last 30 years apple almost went bankrupt once if not twice.  One of those times was due to the fact that other companies were releasing cheaper products.  As such, it is definitely something worth watching.

Read Apple's history carefully. They weren't going to go bankrupt because other people were releasing cheaper products.

One weakness with Apple products is questionable ergonomics. Their old earbuds were awkward and uncomfortable....and this iPhone 5 has really weak sound and voice. Given that it is you know.....a phone.

They improved they earbuds on the 5 and introduced HD voice phone calls also. Not all operators support it yet.

Interesting historical analysis of global phone brands put together by Asymco: http://www.asymco.com/2013/08/21/amp-index-update/

I think Horace's chart explains why Apple sold off so heavily earlier this year. Of note, looking at history, when a company's AMP index has peaked it goes into decline; none reversed. Apple's AMP index is showing a clear peak in Q4, 2012.

Bears see the current trend continuing (consistent to what has happened to every previous leader).

Bulls (of which I am one) see Apple able to turn the trend and get its AMP index growing again; not a small feat.

Oh well, I have no stake in this business except an observers opinion. I sold my last stock of AAPL after 6 years, in 2010. I predicted then two major things would happen: steve jobs would pass away and give leadership to a guy who did not carry the same imagination or quality guidance that steve could provide (he would be more involved in the OS design direction than most people would imagine) and so tim cook no matter how great a leader, couldn't be as good a visionary. This company needs a visionary. The second reason was I believed in a few years time the company would be seen as passe by the average American teenager and college students. They'd obviously still buy the products and use them but the fervor wouldn't be the same. The lines outside stores are not going to be the same, there isn't anything special about owning a new smartphone almost 6 years after the original iPhone.

And thats all I bring to the table. My opinions are somewhat too anecdotal however, and I acknowledge that. People can beg to differ but I hold my ground that Apple isn't the same company as it was before without Jobs. They'll iterate on current products, flop on some new ones and gain traction on many technologies as always. But this isn't a 1 trillion dollar company or even a double from any evidence I've been shown.

From a ex-Apple evangelist.

Best of luck on all our investments!

How much did you sell your stock for in 2010?

One more tweet by Icahn:

"Spoke to Tim. Planning dinner in September. Tim believes in buyback and is doing one. What will be discussed is magnitude."

I understand why he tweeted the last time. Why did he have to tweet now? The stock was just beginning to decline  >:(

It is nearly confirmed by a leaked memo from Nuance that iOS7 will be released to the general public the day of the Apple announcement on Sept 10th.

I don't particularly think much about mobile operating systems as anything more than a tool to get me to use Apps, text, make calls. But my impression is no matter how innovative or special the new interface is, it will be widely criticized for being too radical and departed from the traditions of the past iOS iterations to please every longtime user. In fact I would say this iOS release could be the beginning of Apple having to justify incrementally useless features like parallax just to retain a sense of progress. I don't really get most of the features that iOS7 brings to the table and I am definitely getting the update but I don't see it boding well for the general public.

I tried iOS7 on two of my friends' developer phones and it was really the same experience overall. Nothing changed except the icons, there were some interesting new sliders and menus and iMessage was much cooler looking. Overall looked slick. But does it make any significant changes to the overall OS? It isn't the sea change I expected.

If they had decided to copy live tiles and totally flatter UI, nobody would complain they copied because nobody uses Windows Phone to really even notice! ;)  and it could put the kibosh on WP too.

-Current iPhone 5 user, will upgrade to iOS7 but I don't think it will be received well. And may signal a lot of people to consider switching to phones with larger screens, or features like better camera's, battery life etc. The iOS6 - iOS7 shift isn't as revolutionary as they claim.
