rkbabang
In ragnarisapirate's excellent write up about the SNS AGM, he mentioned that no one has reported this, it looks like IBJ.com has finally caught up. Is it me or does it seem like the mainstream media is becoming increasingly irrelevant in almost every area of life that I follow closely? Which makes me wonder about all of the topics that I don't follow closely and get my news only from "the news", but I digress. Anyway here's the article: Steak n Shake, Burger King settle lawsuit --Eric
bookie71
What a concept, "No Attorney". I like this guy more all the time. Think of the frustrations, time saved, as well as $$$$ ;D
link01
this site admits they got their news about the lawsuit being quietly resolved from jeff's ragnarisapirate blog & they go on to link to it [its a news item on the left hand side bar]: http://www.burgerbusiness.com/?p=1054 btw, this is an interesting little quote from the IBJ article: <<Steak n Shake had insisted Varnson employees work out of the burger chain's local headquarters, where management could closely watch their performance. They didn't like what they saw. "Anyone who comes to Steak n Shake needs to be ready to break a sweat," Biglari said Friday. "This isn't vacation time." He went on to praise the work of Young & Laramore, which held the account for 18 years before Biglari pushed them aside, as "absolutely extraordinary.">>

rkbabang
What a concept, "No Attorney". I like this guy more all the time. Think of the frustrations, time saved, as well as $$$$ I know what you mean. No big ego thing for Sadar. Time and time again, his actions show his class, brains, honesty and humility, as well as a rare ability to just get the job done without any distracting B.S. What's not to like? WEST is my largest holding right now, I loaded up recently in the $7-10 range. I'm wondering if I should have bought more SNS instead, but in the end I choose to hold my small amount of SNS and buy more through ownership in WEST. --Eric

You gain a bit more liquidity owning SNS, but WEST is in fantastic shape and they'll add more businesses over time. Cheers!

ragnarisapirate
2 thoughts: 1) It isn't like Young & Laramore are completely out of SNS-Sardar said that they have done several projects with the company... The IBJ article didn't mention that at all. Really, the old commercials were witty, but lets face it, they were not happy. We need a place where people go to have a good time, not to have waiters that are sarcastic to them. 2) The crazy things is that Sardar actually called the CEO of BK, who then called him back. Imagine, 2 CEOs of companies in a lawsuit against each other making an effort to talk to each other! Usually, these guys act as if they are still in high school or something, using lawyers to do this 'he said, she said' crap.... -jeff
Parsad
According to this article, the new name is "Shooters", while the old name was "Shots". Not much difference, but ok'ed by Burger King's CEO. JEast
Based on the local fliers, the advertisements say "New! Steakburger Shooters". Also based on my test sample, they are pretty good. However, they go for 0.89 while the Burger King "Shots" go for 0.69. Cheers
Parsad
The Burger King Shots are God-awful! I tried them and they taste like mini hockey pucks...yes, I've tasted hockey pucks before! ;D I've haven't tried the Steakburger Shooters yet, but our director Andrew Cooke has and said they are good. They definitely can't be worse than the Burger King Shots. I've tried plenty of miniburgers around Vancouver, the West Coast all the way to San Diego, and in Toronto over the last couple of years. Nothing tasted remotely like the Burger King mini burgers...just bloody awful! Cheers!
Rabbitisrich
Maybe it's just your area. In Los Angeles they taste like cardboard.
Parsad
Rabbit, have you tried the miniburgers at Cheesecake Factory? I've tried both the chicken and beef ones at the Cheesecake Factory at Fashion Island in Newport, and they were very good...same as what you'll find at almost all Cheesecake Factorys. I've tried some at other various restaurants around LA, including the ones at the Beverly Wilshire...those were the best ones I've had outside some Kobe beef miniburgers in Toronto. Cheers!
