Parsad
The magazine would do extremely well if he just catered to the same idiotic Wall Street crowd that he belongs to. Put scantily clad women back on there, and do articles about money, billionaires, private jets, cigars, high-end restaurants and fast cars. It's working for Trump, it should work for the lowest common denominator in value investing. Cheers!

CalvinL
How about "MAXIM by Biglari" featuring him the "Billionaire" with different models in the cover in every issue? Can't wait to see that happening. ;D

Can't wait to see that happening. ;D You almost nailed it - Based on the New York post story he is going to be adding his signature to the title. http://nyp.st/1Qd1YHG Also note that it appears Mr. Bigs was being his usual classy self during the famed photo shoot and appears to have taken charge of the edit for the last issue. Funny how his own photo ended up in the magazine. Real stellar reputation he is building for himself in the media / fashion community.
Jurgis
And I was wondering what he was spending his time on this year. Apparently, he's doing a hands on job at Maxim. Next step is starring in pr0n movie as Mr. Big. 8)

CalvinL
That Biglari discount is allowing him to repurchase shares at an astonishing discount to the intrinsic value of the Corporation's assets. All joking aside, I suspect that he is intentionally crafting this "Biglari discount" for cheaper share repurchases (precisely the TLF tender) again in the future. With current cash flow and current price level, he could buy up another 15% of the company in a year. If I were him, I would be happy to see BH stock price going even lower. Maybe some more display of creepiness would do, as long as it doesn't hurt the business itself.

The simple truth of the matter is that the guy is an egomaniac and opportunist. Biglari is all about enjoying life. He enjoys life by taking advantage of his wealth to 'insert himself' into interactions with attractive women. He enjoys life by screwing ordinary shareholders (i.e. you guys), playing very close to the line on corporate governance and likely crossing that line on self-dealing. I continue to find it amazing how every new stupid (or morally wrong) thing that Biglari does is somehow spun here as a shrewd move that will benefit BH shareholders The guy is comical. Cevian
Amazing that he has decided to emulate Buffett in every way except for what most people admire about Buffett, his humility. 40,000 people don't attend the Berkshire meeting just because Buffett is rich. There are many other rich people who don't attract anyone. Pretty sad!

I took this to mean something different. Bigarli will likely depress the share price until he can sop up every share he can for himself. Then he will likely do a takeunder at a depressed price. Merkhet is right - I don't think anyone is really defending Biglari here. The "Biglari Discount" could be a really shrewd move, but not necessarily benefiting any BH shareholders except Biglari himself.
Jurgis
Hah, you guys are just not worthy to be BH shareholders. That's what he said. This is for lolz in case someone takes this seriously. Picasso
I often see a thesis framed this way: Old shareholders: Management is awful to minority shareholders, either by doing destructive deals or finding ways to increase their compensation at the expense of shareholders. New shareholders: Yeah, but they have options or a financial stake that are now at-the-money. They are incentivized to make me wealthy alongside management! Well you might as well call the "new shareholders" the "new bagholders" because it almost never happens. One would think that Biglari has every incentive to grow the value of his shares. But yet, somehow, someway, he's got other incentives which are much more important to him. You almost have to deal directly with these types of managements to know where their true interests lie. It isn't always financial. Anyway, just a thought. There are other stocks like that on this board or VIC. Tetragon, Oppenheimer Holdings, etc.

Mr. Big is certainly not puffing on Cigar butts like famous predecessors, he takes it to a whole new level. I guess if you are a real Dlck, then owning Maxims is fun, even if it loses a lot of money. abitofvalue
Mr. Bigs now suing ex- employees for defamation http://nypost.com/2015/12/11/maxim-owner-files-defamation-suit-against-ex-fashion-director/ Not clear from article but I expct BH not Mr. Bigs will actually foot the bill for this.
