bookie71 Posted April 19, 2014 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Back in ancient times , when IRA's were first offered, I did a spread sheet which compared an IRA compounded at (I think) 8% vs. after tax investment 75% at same rate (remember the 8% rate is really 6% because you have to pay taxes on it). If I remember at about 8-9 years the compounding of tax money (deferred taxes) put you ahead even at higher tax rates. Get out your favorite spread sheet program and prove it to yourself.
