  1. According to Reuters, the government is investigating SAC trades in Weight Watcher's...was Stevie Cohen getting inside information from Kirstie Alley? ;D Cheers! http://finance.yahoo.com/news/exclusive-authorities-probe-sac-capital-000004593.html;_ylt=AiIT1fPDvdFoXTvwvHVI2.GiuYdG;_ylu=X3oDMTNyZzJhNGd1BG1pdANGUCBUb3AgU3RvcnkgTGVmdARwa2cDNWQ0ZTUxZmMtMjRkNS0zNTBjLWI3YjUtNzg4ZDEyYzE0MmNhBHBvcwMyBHNlYwN0b3Bfc3RvcnkEdmVyA2U2MmNmYzIwLTQwZjEtMTFlMi1iZmY3LWI1ZGZjZWU3ZmNiNQ--;_ylg=X3oDMTFpNzk0NjhtBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdANob21lBHB0A3NlY3Rpb25z;_ylv=3
  2. No, went for a big dinner last night...knew I had to give you guys a good morning...get over that $10 hump in a big way! ;D I'll be going for lunch tomorrow, so I'm hoping to get you guys to $10.65 at some point. Got a couple more lunches planned for next week, so we'll fly over $11 after that. Cheers! Ok, ok, no need to thank me...I got you guys over $10.65 today! So as I said, with the lunches I have planned for next week, plus our big office Christmas dinner on Friday, I'll get you all over $11 next week. We'll probably fall short of my tangible book by Christmas, but I'm hoping to get you guys to at least $12 by Christmas. Cheers!
  3. November no better for Paulson. 4. These guys really should not be giving advice on how to buy stocks...yes, yes, they do make our lives a heck of a lot easier with their stupidity! Cheers! http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/the-exchange/mcdonald-stock-analyst-goes-back-buy-rating-145058610.html;_ylt=AkgYuF2VAz1qkSE4MjbfvryiuYdG;_ylu=X3oDMTRwaXV0MzM2BG1pdANGaW5hbmNlIEZQIFRvcCBTdG9yaWVzIG1peGVkIGxpc3QEcGtnAzEyMTMzYTYzLTYyZDYtMzViNi1iOGE5LTIwYmVhYmM1MTJlOQRwb3MDNQRzZWMDTWVkaWFCTGlzdE1peGVkTFBDQVRlbXAEdmVyAzA2YjVhYmQzLTQwOGEtMTFlMi1iYTJmLTI4YjliMmJiOWI3OA--;_ylg=X3oDMTFpNzk0NjhtBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdANob21lBHB0A3NlY3Rpb25z;_ylv=3
  5. Hi James, Actually, the conference doesn't conflict with the pre-events. It will end at 3pm, and Norm and I have already booked a special venue in the Royal York (the private Railroad Car Bar) for his pre-dinner meet...which will run from 3pm to about 6:30pm. Our dinner event will start around 6:30pm. So you are golden and will enjoy yourself thoroughly! Cheers!
  6. According to this Bloomberg article, Wall Street moneymen seem to be waiting to see what happens with SAC and Steve Cohen, as they are interested in buying his art collection. Cheers! http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-12-07/sac-s-cohen-art-watched-by-buyers-as-trading-probe-grows.html
  7. I have absolutely no trouble whatsoever sleeping, even when I've got a massive position in something in my personal portfolio. In the past, I did fret a tiny bit when taking a very large position in the fund, and it has little to do with volatility, but more on how my partners...or should I say...a couple of my partners may behave. Over time I've come to the realization that their temperament is outside of my control, regardless of the conversations I may have with them, or how we've performed over the years. When things do get choppy, or downright ridiculous like in 2008/2009, I'm actually as giddy as a school girl...it's like Christmas morning as a child...and I don't sleep because I'm scrambling for investments and ideas. Cheers!
  8. Thanks very much for the article Bookie! Cheers!
  9. Shutter them all...culture of corrupt behavior and a bunch of pompous asses! Cheers! http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-12-06/diamondback-to-close-down-as-investors-pull-520-million.html
  10. It's merely a 50 cent dollar though Sanjeev with a relatively high degree of certainty. Can you elaborate more on why it's a buy? No, actually it's a 50 cent dollar, growing at a minimum of 10% ROE for the foreseeable future...possibly 12-15% ROE. Combine that with a nearly untouchable deposit base, focused operations, and increasing efficiency, you have a business that could very well be priced at 1.2 times book in 3-5 years...$30. I could see investors selling out once it is trading at 80-90% of book, but it is still quite early, with very few other quality opportunities of this nature in a market that has risen dramatically. Cheers!
  11. Mistake to sell out. We had a huge position in warrants, so we sold a very tiny amount as we average out a bit. But we are keeping all of the BAC equity and 75% of the warrants for the long-term. This will hit $13-15 in the next year...and I suspect the exercise price will start to fall quickly as BAC starts to pay out cash...and they will pay out a ton over the next few years. You cannot touch their deposit base, so as long as they continue to operate conservatively, I cannot see why they will not do nearly as well as WFC long-term. Cheers!
  12. BAC waives MBIA bond purchase conditions. Cheers! http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/12/06/bankofamerica-mbia-idUSL1E8N609820121206?feedType=RSS&feedName=marketsNews&rpc=43

  14. Actually, that could happen to anyone, so I'm relieved with the amount misappropriated and that they caught it. Even Buffett was fooled by Sokol after all the great things Sokol did at Berkshire. I'm still wondering how the heck did head office, including the CFO and audit committee, not realize that the audited numbers provided from South Africa had not actually been audited before filing 2011's 10-K, as well as 1st and 2nd quarter 10-Q's. Didn't anyone at head office actually talk to the South African auditors, even in a cordial call to see how the audit process went, and ask any questions? I expect that internal control issues have already been evaluated and remediated. They are just lucky it wasn't $1M or more that was stolen. Cheers!
  15. Wait...is this the Pfizer thread? Eric wouldn't pay full price for Viagara...he orders the generic stuff. ;D Cheers!
  16. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get laid tonight. I can't stop laughing! Have a good one. Cheers!
  17. Who is this "Moorecapital"? I don't remember him! ;D If you haven't noticed while you've been lurking, everyone was wondering what the heck happened to you and I've had to explain that you just haven't been posting. Ericopoly has been monopolizing the whole BAC thread in your absence. Cheers!
  18. LOL! Why didn't you tell me...it's not like it would have killed me or something. ;D Cheers!
  19. I always have a laugh at everyone's expense. It's why I only have investment internet message board friends! ;D Usually I get into it with some of them too...as Eric knows! Now that is over...how about we go back to predicting BAC's stock price before Christmas...I'm still swinging for near tangible book, even though the window is closing fast. Cheers! Years ago I explained to this board why I chose ERICOPOLY as my handle. Well, it's because I've been known to debate a topic forever on logic and most people don't have the similar appetite. So I can sort of become the last one carrying on the debate. So it's kind of like a monopolist of discussion. A self-deprecating handle ;) Is that why? I don't remember. I always thought you wanted to own the world...or viewed yourself as a monopoly...or something to that effect. Or you just loved playing monopoly as a kid...I used to play for hours and hours. Cheers!

  21. Ericopoly...reveal yourself! I know you're actually Brian Moynihan trying to prop up the stock! :o. Cheers!
  22. Folks, I just put a friggin' post up yesterday about sticking to the debate...stick to the debate! >:( Cheers!
  23. Prem won't quit unless something physically or mentally stops him. He loves his family, but lives for Fairfax! Like Buffett, his life's work and ego are completely tied to his company...not to mention his family's fortune. Cheers!
  24. Stumpf says they will ask to return more money to shareholders...again, not sure what markets need to hear. Cheers! http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-12-04/wells-fargo-s-stumpf-affirms-plan-to-return-more-capital.html?cmpid=yhoo
  25. Dispute over insurance losses. Cheers! http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-12-04/swiss-re-says-buffett-seeking-up-to-1-billion-on-life-deal-1-.html?cmpid=yhoo
