As recently as last week, on March 25th, Trump was still laying it all out in broad daylight: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1242905328209080331 His tweet: "The LameStream Media is the dominant force in trying to get me to keep our Country closed as long as possible in the hope that it will be detrimental to my election success."

It is childish to provide a narrative for the thinking of others who are in disagreement with you.

Of course it's not - it's the typical armchair quarterback crap. Trump was the first world leader to close the borders, The WHO criticized him, the opposition party criticized him - since they love the Chinese Communist Party. Turns out, the President was correct - and just about EVERY major country followed suit. Any of them ROLL BACK their travel bans? NO These geniuses have all the answers. Agreed. With hindsight, that decision by Trump was a good one. I wish Canada had done the same thing at that time. I also think that his recent decision to extend ‘social distancing’ for 30 days was also a good move. I also like how he is being aggressive in removing government barriers to moving quickly with medical innovations (testing, medical equipment, vaccine etc). The China travel decision is a bit like congratulating the losing football team for making a first down in the first quarter.

Wear examination gloves so touching your face is unpleasant.

Remember what Trump sent to China? 17.8 tons of PPE Trump administration sent protective medical gear to China while he minimized the virus threat to US https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/29/opinions/coronavirus-personal-protective-equipment-obeidallah/index.html

Oh, yeah - don't disagree with the CoBF experts here. They have everyone's motivations figured out. And they just love to pile on. You begin with... "They have everyone's motivations figured out" And you follow with... "And they just love to pile on." It struck me as funny.

Trump announces that perhaps today a quarantine will be put into effect on all of New York and New Jersey and it could last for 2 weeks. Lock them up! https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/28/politics/trump-new-york-new-jersey-quarantine-coronavirus/index.html New York's governor said that he spoke with Trump this morning and they did not discuss any such thing. Why does Trump do this? I believe that Trump throws these random ideas out during appearances before the press just to see what the public response will be.

Underlying this political dance is Trump's tendency to talk about the government as though it's his own private business. The former real estate mogul often discusses government business like a transaction dependent on relationships or personal advantage, rather than a national obligation. https://news.yahoo.com/flatter-fight-governors-seeking-help-155038606.html

The story is an extra $1 of sustainable earnings from cost cutting is $15 a share at 15x earnings. These extraordinary pay increases over the next 5 months don't noticeably erode that.

It is similar to oppositional defiance. And it's best to convince him that it was his great idea all along.

California's governor has been praising Trump's handling of the crisis, and the White House has been willing to work with him. Meanwhile, Trump has been belittling the requests of the governors of Washington and Michigan who have been sharply criticizing the Federal government's handling of the crisis. The Federal government would lead if the governors would stop maligning Trump -- he is fighting their requests because of this. Putin also recognizes that praising Trump goes a long way. You have to kiss the ring.

'Governor Cuomo and others they say they want 30,000 of them. Thirty thousand!' Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity in an interview on Thursday night, speaking of the urgently needed ventilators. 'Think of this, you go to hospitals and they have one. And now all of a sudden everybody is asking for these vast numbers.' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8158745/US-coronavirus-Trump-claims-Cuomo-exaggerating-New-Yorks-need-ventilators.html -
You're assuming tech is static though. Developments in screening have gone from virtually non existent to 10-minute tests being experimentally available in just weeks. Once you can screen people within minutes, why would you still need to shut borders? Because if you were exposed to the virus 10 minutes ago you won't test positive in 20 minutes?

5% of their known cases are dead. And their cases are clearly growing exponentially (see link), but confirmation bias is a helluva drug. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_coronavirus_pandemic_in_Washington_(state) Yes, and it's actually 147 dead (up 13% since Orthopa's 130 was posted).

5% of their known cases are dead. Higher than average death rate because of the Life Care Center where there were multiple deaths (37).

Today's market action may not be related to the jobless numbers at all. It just may be that people believe Trump can dictate to the governors, which he can't. So (potentially) you've got his followers moving their savings back into their mutual funds after liquidating them at lower prices last week. When Trump's wishes to pack churches goes ignored by the states, they'll sell lower again. And stimulus passed the senate as well.

Companies that look like they might not make it had their shares beaten up.

The Dow is a poor measure. The retail sector is represented by Walmart, for example. Consider, the current crisis helps Walmart sell more toys, being practically the only toy retailer (other than Target) still open on California's main street.
