  1. Dental insurers must be very, very happy.
  2. Same. Except for days now I've been trying to get an Amazon Fresh delivery time -- they're never available. I check several times per day. They need to fix their tech -- this is stupid to ask the customer to come back and check for times later. Instead, they should put me in line and alert me by text message when it's my turn to schedule delivery.
  3. As opposed to? As opposed to before March 22nd. Isnt the shutdown supposed to reduce cases and deaths, at least after 2 weeks? If it went down, the curve wouldn't be flattened. Their goal was to flatten it. That implies no decline in the case load.
  4. In return, will the bank reverse their recent move to restrict jumbo lending to customers with at least $250k of liquid assets at the bank? https://www.wsj.com/articles/wells-fargo-curtails-jumbo-loans-amid-market-turmoil-11586037701
  5. Perhaps bowing spreads the virus at a slower pace than kissing cheeks.
  6. South Carolina becomes latest U.S. state to issue 'stay at home' orders https://news.yahoo.com/south-carolina-becomes-latest-u-213837371.html
  7. Not a nice move by the US. But also, Canada should have been stockpiling in Jan/Feb. Yea, its an interesting narrative and application of responsibility from some here. The US/Trump should have foreseen everything months ago and had massive stockpiles of everything one would be able to think of after the fact. Everyone else who is unprepared is the victim of Trump being an asshole. I think we could negotiate an exchange for toilet paper if we were smarter.
  8. I think detaining people is a better solution than escalating fines. Outside of hugging your children and f**** your wife, what reason, ever really, but especially given the current situation, do you have for getting that close to another person? Whats wrong with people? Some people feel the rules don't apply to them: https://www.recordnet.com/news/20200405/new-door-locks-change-defiant-lodi-congregations-plans
  9. I posted about this a while back. I have some friends who are nurses/MDs at NYC facilities, they have replaced their morgue vans with trailers as the twitter thread mentions. I think I even posted the picture. This happened about...1.5 weeks ago? Not sure where he is getting the rest of the information (burial trenches in city parks?) but it seems the most effective way to manage the bodies would be cremation, but I am no professional in this area. Can they cremate bodies against the wills of the deceased/families, if they had wanted to be buried? Probably wasn't an issue in China, but here the law may prevent it. I don't know. It's very touchy here particularly NY which is pretty diverse religiously. I am not sure about those laws, whether the governor can suspend them in times of crisis, and if so whether there will be fallout in the future if families decide to sue the city/state. I would think in crisis situation the governor would be able to order cremations but I am guessing the logic now is, "let's spend some short-term cash, do whatever we can today to build body preservation capacity, rather than risk a slew of multi-million dollar lawsuits in the future". Makes sense. Refrigerate until capacity to do so is exhausted.
  10. Shooting the messenger. Is this your superior debating skill on display?
  11. Is this real? Are you really linking to a whole article blasting someone for "interrupting" an expert while he speaks, while Trump constantly does this to everyone and contradicts experts to their faces based on no facts and keeps them from even answering questions (like yesterday's question to Fauci about Chloroquine)? Playing the victim.
  12. It's interesting reading about the internal debate over hydroxychloroquine -- I thought Fauci had explained this well enough already at a press briefing weeks ago. While discussing the latest on hydroxychloroquine this weekend, an exasperated Navarro lashed out at Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the advisers who has urged caution about the drug, a person familiar with the meeting told CNN. Navarro had brought a stack of paperwork with him into the Situation Room on the drug, arguing it was proof that it could work to treat coronavirus, which Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, disagreed with because it was not data. "What are you talking about?" Fauci asked -- a question that set Navarro off. He became indignant, and at one point, accused Fauci of opposing Trump's travel restrictions on China, which confused many in the room, given Fauci was one of the initial few to agree with Trump on the move, the source said. Several aides later said they were unfazed by Navarro's outburst, given he has them regularly. https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/05/politics/white-house-malaria-drug-hydroxychloroquine-disagreement/index.html
  13. THAT IS EXACTLY RIGHT. Many people still do not understand populism - you can be a billionaire and still be a populist. And in that regard, I have to hand it to Bernie Sanders - he's a genuine populist, not an community organizer turned elitist like Obama. https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2017/02/what-is-populist-trump/516525/ As a result, “Populists in power tend to undermine countervailing powers, which are courts, which are media, which are other parties,” Mudde said. “And they tend to do that through a variety of mostly legal means, but not classic repression.” In Hungary, for instance, Orban hasn’t banned opposition newspapers; rather, his government has directed advertising by state-run organizations away from critical media outlets and toward friendly ones. And when Trump says "many people do not understand"...
  14. Where does your anger come from?
  15. Here it comes... Sorry about the Kafka nightmare for you...you just hate it when it gets turned around to you. Why are you so angry?
  16. When the news tells us that another perfectly healthy person has died of COVID-19, how can we be comfortable that the reporting is accurate? One-Third of Adults with Diabetes Still Don’t Know They Have It https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/one-third-adults-diabetes-still-dont-know-they-have-it About 2.8 percent of U.S. adults — one-third of those with diabetes — still don’t know they have it. And what percentage of infected US adults are being killed by COVID-19?
  17. Don't forget "all the problems" that Trump inherited from Obama. In other words, the blame game is a well-worn tool in Trump's chest. This article tries hard but falls well short of exonerating Trump.
  18. More deflection from you. Who is ULTIMATELY responsible for the welfare of the Cuban paradise? The USA or the Communist regime? I hear North Korea has free health care and free education. But the real bonus for you Cwericb - NO reported cases of CV How do you write "more deflection from you" and then start talking about North Korea in the very same post?
  19. I think you're not really interested in an answer. If I'm wrong, the answer has been all over this thread. Go look it up. I'm surprised that you have so much faith in the transparency of the Chinese Communist Party in sharing the number of deaths. (It's still noteworthy that USA has a 5x per capita death rate compared to Canada. If you think Canada's managing this poorly, you must think that the USA is managing this horrendously.) Aren’t they projecting 150k deaths in the US? US definitely managed this horribly. There was opportunity for them to do very well had they acted early. But I’m not that optimistic about the situation in Canada. I think it’s being mismanaged here as well.. The federal heath minister just said there’s no reason to doubt Chinese #s. It’s a conspiracy that Chinese #s are higher.. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-health-minister-says-canada-has-no-evidence-that-china-is-under/ I trust muscle 10x more than China or Trudeau. Washington Post: ‘Evidence’ Coming Out Of Wuhan Suggests Real Death Toll Over 40,000 What is Muscleman's personal risk? He was from Wuhan and still has friends (probably family members) living there. I know that aspect of it. However he is anonymous. I doubt he would knowingly put them at risk for a message board; he is a former (or maybe still current) MSFT employee (not a dumbass).
