  1. The stock could fall 50% and still be higher than the $420 level that shorts thought was ridiculously high... Obviously the current move isn't sustainable, but also obvious is that this stock isn't predictable. Does it fall back down a lot quickly, a little and stabilizes, melts over years, or Musk pulls other rabbits out of his hat and the market likes it? He raises $10 billion in equity at minimal dilution and has enough cash to derisk things a lot which changes the perceived risk level? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  2. I never can tell with you. Yeah, US politics is very dysfunctional right now, which makes for dysfunctional media, and vice versa (both things feed on each other).
  3. CHTR and LBTYA shouldn't be compared too much. The industry dynamic is different in Europe. And CHTR management is better.
  4. 888 pre-market. I think that’s what they call a face-ripper... Update: Now above 900

  7. Once you understand the ZH is part of Russian's psyops arm, it makes a lot more sense. One way to weaken western democracies is to fan the flames of mistrust for their institutions, governments, financial systems, etc. (all that can be healthy to one level, but can be healthy when taken to the tin foil hat level and mixed in with fake news and cherry-picked data) It fits with their documented programs on facebook and elsewhere where they tried to create conflict by supporting radical groups on both the right and left. It's not about ideology so much as about creating division and chaos and weakening social cohesion and creating so much mental pollution that people can't tell what's true or not anymore (Gary Kasparov is quite good at explaining how the KGB and its descendents do this).
  8. ...said everyone for 10 years (not saying it's wrong, just that it seemed right before too)
  9. If they had been banned because Twitter disagreed with their views, that would suck. But they've been banned because they went against the terms of service by doxxing a Chinese scientist and telling their millions of readers to "go talk to them" giving their phone number and address and implying that they created a bioweapon without any proof. That kind of mob-lynching tactic is pretty hard to defend.
  10. Didn't Zerohedge just get banned from Twitter for spreading false info about this? Twitter is a censor hell, just like Facebook. They've become too big and governments use them like they use their other news outlets: propaganda and controlling their narrative of the truth. Luckily you can still visit websites directly: www.zerohedge.com If that ever gets stopped (there are precedents in the western world), there's always the old trusty VPN solution. Zerohedge is a Russian propaganda tool, as pointed out by people who used to write there: http://www.propornot.com/2016/10/zero-hedge.html
  11. May all be true, still name 1 better source for news (not state propaganda) this day and age? I read it, yet I don't leave my brain at home while doing so. It is state propaganda, is the point. You just seem to personally prefer Russian state propaganda designed to make westerners hate and mistrust their own governments for the benefit of Putin and his mafia-state cronies.

  15. I don't think you're correct. They have a hugely varied customer base, including the recent DoD JEDI win, they're number 2 behind AWS but growing faster, and their revenue run-rate is around $20bn/year, even if the exact number isn't disclosed.
  16. “Azure revenue growth of 62% (up 64% in constant currency)” How impressive is that kind of organic growth for a business of that size? Wow
  17. Not bad: https://ir.aboutamazon.com/static-files/f3589a21-d023-4e4c-9897-1498c60885d2 Up 11% after hours.
  18. Most of the charging is done at night while you're sleeping and you almost always drive off with a "full tank", unlike on a gas car. Only on long trips do you need to take these longer chages mid-drive, but usually by the time you've driven 300 miles, a stop to walk around a bit, go to the bathroom and eat something is a welcome thing. Few people will want to drive more than 300 miles without stopping for long, so for the vast majority of people it's a non-issue. In fact, I'll gladly trade off all those stops to the gas station for once or twice a year having to stop slightly longer during a longer trip.
  19. "Due to continued engineering progress of the Model Y all-wheel drive (AWD), we have been able to increase its maximum EPA range to 315 miles, compared to our previous estimate of 280 miles. This extends Model Y's lead as the most energy-efficient electric SUV in the world.“ Cool to see ranges keep going up. At some point progress probably will stop being reinvested in more range and instead range will start more contant and either margins will go up or prices go down (or likely a mix of both).
  20. What a roller coaster the past couple years have been...
  21. Agreed. FWIW It's not even cap-weighted, it's share-price weighted. Any discussion involving this index is just total nonsense. What's most fascinating is that such a badly constructed and limited index still tracks the SP500 pretty closely.
  22. Good post. Hype around the iPads has come and gone, that's no secret. However, the 10.5" iPad is insanely popular and can be had for under $300. That is, and remains, the core of the iPad unit sales and fulfills the original premise Jobs had for this unit. As the price of the iPad goes up, you have different use cases trying to fill different niches, subject to cannibalism from other Apple products. So it's no surprise it has its limits. I think it's good, but could be better with more focus on differentiated software from the phone and better care to foster an app ecosystem. They've taken some steps recently by breaking out iPadOS fully, but a lot could've been done years ago. I do understand that most of the effort goes to the iPhone, and that larger phones have cannibalized a lot of attention that might otherwise have gone into tablets and that resources and focus is limited... So I'm not saying it was an easy decision or obvious overlook. But it still could've been/might be in the future something quite a bit more compelling.
  23. I'm almost done with season 1 of 'The Crown' (Netflix). I'm enjoying it more than I expected, especially since I have no pre-existing interest in the British monarchy. The production values on that show are basically as high as anything I've seen. The writing and acting are very good. Some episodes are better than others, but none have been bad, IMO. I quite enjoyed the plotline about Churchill's portrait, those who have seen it know what I mean. Haven't seen other seasons yet, don't know how good they are. I know that as time moves forward they change actors. Hopefully they're as good as the first batch. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4786824/
